Mock Trial Intramural Competition Recap! ⚖️

What a great competition filled with impressive advocacy, sharp examinations, and strong courtroom performances from our students!

Congratulations to our Intramural Champions, Olivia LaRosa (2L) and Madison Petz (2L), who represented the Defendant! 🏆

The prosecution was represented by Sophia Iacovelli (2L) and Brianna Martin (2L), with Brigid Carlin (1L) and Caitlin Cassidy (1L) serving as prosecution witnesses. On the defense, Olivia LaRosa (2L) and Madison Petz (2L) were joined by Dylan Sartor (3L) and Molly Flanagan (2L) as defense witnesses.

A special thank you to Judge Seán McGuinness, Professor Ryan O’Neill, and Attorney Joseph Rossett for serving as our judges and taking the time to provide valuable feedback to our competitors.

Through personal stories and reflection, Professor and Dean Emerita Jennifer Brown shared the inspiration and process behind writing her new book, Beginner’s Wisdom: A Guided Journal for 1L Self-Reflection and Professional Identity Formation (West Academic, 2026).

As part of the event, participants engaged in an open dialogue about their lived experiences while Professor Brown led them through a guided reflection from the book.

Two recent Quinnipiac Law graduates, Julia Teti ’26 and Isabella Nazzaro ’26, returned to the courtroom this week to argue cases before the Connecticut Appellate Court. As students in the Prosecution Appellate Clinic, they wrote briefs and argued appeals on behalf of the State of Connecticut, returning after graduation to complete their work in the clinic.

Julia argued the case of State v. Maldonado which involved whether the search of a parolee’s residence by his parole officer violated the fourth amendment. Isabella argued the case of Ortiz v. Commissioner of Correction, which involved whether Ortiz’s lawyer provided constitutionally effective assistance of counsel at his trial. Their professor, Ronald Weller, reports that they both did an outstanding job!

Congratulations to Julia and Isabella on this impressive accomplishment and on taking their clinical experience from the classroom to the courtroom.

Meet our 2026 Alumni Admissions Recruiter, Daniel O’Brien ’26! ⚖️

This fall, Daniel will be traveling across the country to connect with prospective law students, share his Quinnipiac Law experiences, and answer your questions about the admissions process.

During his time at Quinnipiac Law, Daniel completed the Intellectual Property concentration and competed with the Mock Trial Society, serving as Vice President of External Affairs during his 3L year. He also helped Quinnipiac host the ABA Criminal Advocacy Competition in New Haven in 2025.

Daniel shares, “One of my initial worries was taking my first step into a law class, since I had no idea what to expect or if I could even handle it. That worry quickly melted away as soon as the class started, however, as I was met by excellent professors and faculty who were there to help me every step of the way. Here at Quinnipiac, the sense of community is second to none, and I cherished every moment I spent here. From participating in competition teams like Mock Trial to preparing case briefs for class, I loved every second of it, and I can’t wait to share it with you on the road!”

There’s more to the law school experience than the classroom. ⚖️

This week’s Student Organization Fair showcased just some of the ways Quinnipiac Law students can get involved. With more than 30 student-run organizations, there are opportunities to build community, develop new skills, explore areas of interest, and put classroom learning into practice.

From competition teams and journals to professional interest clubs, affinity groups, and everything in between, there’s a place for everyone to get involved and make their mark.

Quinnipiac Law is launching a new 3-Year Evening JD Program—a purpose-built path designed for students balancing law school with careers, families, military service, and other commitments.

Launching Fall 2027, the program combines evening on-campus instruction, strategically placed online semesters, and integrated bar preparation, allowing students to earn their JD in three years with a clear and intentional path from enrollment to licensure.

“Asking how we could create a clearer and more supported path to becoming a lawyer, the 3-Year Evening JD Program is our answer to that question,” said Dean Brian Gallini.

By integrating bar preparation into the program itself, Associate Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid Joan Metzler said, the program gives students “a realistic, structured path to licensure without asking them to sacrifice their livelihood right at the finish line.”

Applications open September 1, 2026.
