I’ve heard so many parents say their child hates writing and it’s like pulling teeth to get them to write. The more you push and try to force them, the more they can refuse. The goal is not to make them dislike writing. Make it fun. Keep it simple. Break it up into parts. Break it up into DAYS! We homeschool because we like the freedom. Not feeling it today? Let’s wait then. I like to add in books and art projects to make it more fun. I also write myself! If I’m writing too, she doesn’t feel like it’s just me telling her what to do. It’s us spending time together learning new things. For this lesson, we read about polar bears and I was first being the writer. Then, we did a fun art project! Next, she was the writer. We waited 2 whole days before we got our polar bear books/writing sheet out and reviewed it again. We celebrated all the polar bear facts she could remember. I let her choose her 3 favorite facts to write in her journal. Choices are everything. She was more than willing to write something she got to choose herself. ✏️

Paislee wanted to learn about BIRDS! She chose 4 birds from our bird book. So far we’ve been off to a great start with Owls & Magpies. Stay tuned for Flamingos & Bald Eagles!
