- I have to take an assessment- I’m going to go to a quiet individual area
-I have to complete a chapter in the novel I’m reading- I’m going to go to the soft seating area
-I have to conference with my teacher to get feedback- I’m going to go to the teacher’s area
-I have to join a small group to get my next mini lesson- I’m going to go to the group table
Students will move in and out of different spaces based on what they are working on at any given point of the day or period. Explicit direct instruction is provided to the students so they learn that spaces have a purpose. They also learn how to make responsible choices based on their needs throughout the day.
