These storage bins will be utilized for the library's makerspace materials. We are getting a brand new school, with a beautiful new library, and we desperately need functional storage bins for all of the library's old and new makerspace materials. The students use these items weekly in library class, and the boxes are becoming old and broken. The library needs sturdy, functional storage bins for all the library's makerspace materials to last and be used for years to come. These storage bins are clear, which is perfect to see the materials that will be stored in them.

Fundraising Through Bracelet Making, a project from Mrs. Torres 09/15/2023

These items are needed for our Adolescent class to make bracelets in the library to eventually sell to the school for a fundraising opportunity for their class and the library. We have done art and slime-making in the past as fundraisers, and this year the students are really interested in making bracelets. Our students will be making these bracelets in the library, and they will get the opportunity to learn about creating a small business, calculating pricing for a profit, creating the product, advertising the product, and selling the product. This is a project that the adolescents are looking forward to doing this school year!

We have 7 chicks! Our last viable egg hatched yesterday morning. Say hello to Overdue (named for obvious reason)! The students and staff are absolutely loving these babies!

We have 6 chicks! Say hello to Lib, Berry, YA, Non, Poe, and Dewey 🐣

05/16/2023

Our chicks in the library started hatching this afternoon! Lib came out first, and then helped peck out Berry. Towards the end of the day YA hatched, too. We’re excited to see how many chicks hatched tomorrow morning, and we can’t wait to pet them!

Happy Wednesday Hursey!

The winners of the Book Blast shopping sprees are in!

The teachers meeting 60% class participation are Ms. Gonzaga, Ms. Midkiff, and Ms. B. Jones! Congratulations! You will receive these shopping sprees to your school email address so be on the lookout for that!

The top contributing classes that will receive a pajama day and 15 minutes of extra recess time are Ms. Gray's class, Ms. Gillispie's class, Ms. Smith's class, and Mr. Reyes' class. Congratulations!

The top contributing students at each grade level are Yara Smith in primary, Charlie Malone in lower elementary, Aurora Shea in upper elementary, and Olivia and Paulina Hernandez in adolescents. Congratulations! A $100 gift certificate will be sent to the email used in signing up for Book Blast.

Lastly, our top contributing student in the school is Charlie Malone in lower elementary! An additional $100 gift certificate will be sent to the sign up email.

Book Blast books will be delivered in about 3-4 weeks (probably after spring break), but I will keep everyone updated on the official day of delivery once that is confirmed, and because of all the funds Hursey has raised, every student will receive at least one book!

Again, thank you so much for supporting this fundraiser and getting at least one book to all of Hursey's students!

Book Blast has officially ended, and I want to thank everyone who participated, supported, and donated to this awesome event! Thanks to the wonderful Hursey community, we have raised $22,380 for books! That is AMAZING! Top contributor winners will be announced tomorrow afternoon, and more prizes have been shipped, so if your student has not received their prize yet for sending it out to 10 or more people, they are on the way! Lastly, the books from the Book Blast should be shipped out in about 2-3 weeks. I will keep everyone updated as I receive more information, and be on the lookout for our $100 shopping spree winners! Once again, thank you for making this fundraiser a huge success!
