The Gullah Geechee are an African American ethnic group who predominantly live in the Lowcountry region of the U.S. states of Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, and North Carolina, within the coastal plain and the Sea Islands.
The Gullah Geechee people are descendants of Africans who were ens|aved on the rice, indigo and Sea Island cotton plantations of the lower Atlantic coast. Many came from the rice-growing region of West Africa. The nature of their enslavement on isolated island and coastal plantations created a unique culture with deep African retentions that are clearly visible in the Gullah Geechee people’s distinctive arts, crafts, foodways, music, and language.
Gullah Geechee is a unique, creole language spoken in the coastal areas of North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. The Gullah Geechee language began as a simplified form of communication among people who spoke many different languages including €uropean s.lave traders, s|ave owners and diverse, African ethnic groups. The vocabulary and grammatical roots come from African and European languages. It is the only distinctly, African creole language in the United States and it has influenced traditional Southern vocabulary and speech
The Admiral's House (1905)
Charleston, South Carolina
If this isn't proof that even the most deteriorated historic buildings can be brought back then we don't know what it is. Charleston Hardware Co shared a pair of striking before and after photos showing the historic Admiral's House, also known as Quarters A, in Charleston in a state of disrepair and fully restored. The house was built in 1905 to house Admirals in the Navy. It's the second oldest building on the Navy Shipyard and one of the grandest.

Si no tienes trabajo y en algún momento se te termina la comida, por favor no te acuestes sin comer!!! Y NO acuestes a TUS HIJOS DE LA MISMA MANERA. Escríbeme sin vergüenza, de lo poco o mucho que pueda tener, con gusto te compartiré de mis alimentos. No va haber fotos y siempre va a ser entre tú y yo. Todos algún día podríamos necesitar de una pequeña ayuda.
If you don't have a job and at some point you run out of food, please don't go to bed without eating!!! AND DON'T put YOUR CHILDREN to bed THE SAME WAY. Write to me without shame, whatever little or much you may have, I will gladly share with you my food. There will be no photos and it will always be between you and me. Someday we all might need a little help.

In 1978, science teacher Patrick Moriarty told his students to circle April 8, 2024 on the calendar, even suggesting that they should all meet up on that day to watch the total solar eclipse together.
So never in his wildest dreams did Moriarty think about 100 of his former students would show up at his home in suburban Rochester, New York, to do just that.
