Happy Earth Day from all of us at Casa Dei Girasoli! 🌎🌱 We celebrated today by having activities planned by our lower elementary students to present to our primary student students. LE planned, prepared and executed all of the centers for our students to enjoy and learn.
And let’s be honest, it doesn’t need to be April 22 for it to be Earth Day! Our students are always looking for ways to take care of our planet as seen here by cleaning up our parking lot a couple weeks back. What did you do today to celebrate and thank our world?🌻

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming local author Jocelyn Rish to our community night! She entertained and educated our students with her fun and fascinating books Battle of the Brains and Battle of the Butts—diving into the amazing (and sometimes hilarious!) world of animal brains and rears.
Our students were engaged, laughing, and learning the whole time. We’re so grateful she spent the evening with us!
Be sure to check her out at local events or visit www.jocelynrish.com to learn more.

An extension of the Red Number Rods come to life with The Maze. Children work together to build a winding path using the longest rods first, then fill in with smaller ones. They use visual skills to place each rod just right. Once complete, students take turns walking carefully through the maze, practicing focus, coordination, patience, and teamwork along the way.

In Montessori classrooms, children learn to read by engaging the whole body and all the senses.
👀 Visual: Seeing letters and words through materials like the moveable alphabet and word cards.
👂 Auditory: Hearing and saying letter sounds while practicing phonetic awareness.
✋ Tactile: Tracing sandpaper letters and forming words with hands-on materials.
🏃 Kinesthetic: “Air writing,” tapping out sounds, and physically building words using the movable alphabet.
By allowing children to see, hear, touch, and move, Montessori methods strengthen memory, deepen phonics understanding, and make reading a joyful, hands-on discovery.🌻

Protecting the flow: why we allow a long, uninterrupted work cycle🌻

It’s the PRIDE in their hard work when they master a lesson for us! ✨
The way their faces light up when they’ve accomplished something on their own — that confidence, that ownership — that’s everything.
Hard work builds skill… but pride builds belief. 🌻

2 friends.
2 lessons.
1 table.
1 shared goal — fostering focus and a love of learning.
Moments like this are where independence, concentration, and community come together.🌻

Leadership and mentorship in action 🌱
In a blended-age Montessori classroom, younger children learn by observing older peers — and older students grow into natural leaders by guiding and supporting others.
It’s a powerful cycle:
✨ Learn
✨ Lead
✨ Grow
That’s the beauty of our Montessori community. 🌻
