Twenty-five sophomores and juniors from Stark County high schools recently spent time on campus as part of our Rising Scholars Summer Institute.
Designed to help first-generation and underrepresented students prepare for college success, the Rising Scholars Program provides academic enrichment, mentorship and support while creating pathways to higher education and future careers.
Students in the program represent partner schools including Alliance, Canton South, Fairless, GlenOak, Massillon and McKinley.

Kent State Regional Campuses will be closed Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth | Freedom Day. There will be no classes, and offices will be closed. Campuses will reopen Monday, June 22.
We will host the annual Juneteenth Jubilee tomorrow, June 18, a celebration of community, culture and history. This free event takes place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Risman Plaza. In case of inclement weather, the rain location will be Room 218 in the Kent Student Center.
