A Stark County educator was one of dozens across the nation who participated in a three-day teaching program hosted by the Library of Congress.

Susan Jaroscak of Macedonia, an adjunct professor at Kent State University at Stark campus in Jackson Township, was one of 90 educators who took part in the Summer Teacher Institute, part of the Teaching with Primary Sources program, in Washington, DC.

This week, the Kent State University at Stark Campus Security team is training with Jackson Township Fire Department, Stark County, Ohio on the campus's solar panel electrical system. Firefighters are walking the buildings to identify critical shutoffs and make their way to the roof to examine all aspects of the system. By doing this, firefighters will be able to safely respond in the event of an emergency. Solar panels are safer than most electrical equipment and are a green source of energy. ⚡
