Hoover High School

⛵ Vikings took to the high seas (read: Dogwood Pool)! 🌊 Hoover’s Engineering Capstone class put their creativity (and cardboard) to the test with their annual boat race that was both friendly and fierce.

👏 Congratulations to the S.S. Boat Boys for their successful voyage and a big thank you to Mrs. Maxwell and the class for letting us be part of the fun!

🚤 Not every ship completed the voyage… but every Viking came away with a learning experience. 🧡🖤

🍎🥪 Educators Rising is kicking off the school year by shining a spotlight on some of the most caring staff in our buildings—our incredible Lunch Crew! 🧡🖤

Every day, they serve hundreds of students, always with a welcoming smile and a kind word. Many even greet students by name, making the cafeteria feel like home. 🥰 One student shared, “They always make my day better,” while another said, “They care about us and it shows.”

😊 Their friendliness, dedication, and joy help create a positive atmosphere for our Hoover Vikings, which is why the Lunch Crew has been named our August Vital Vikings! 🎉

Educators Rising is a student group open to 9th through 12th graders who are interested in the education field. One of the ways the group gives back to the school is by honoring staff members with the Vital Viking award. Vital Vikings are staff members who have been nominated by the senior class or by staff for their dedication, help, or impact on students. A different staff member is recognized each month. 🧡🖤

☀️🍃 It’s been a beautiful week to be outside in North Canton! Hoover Environmental Science and Zoology classes walked the Hoover Trail and explored our on campus outdoor classroom—making observations about local biodiversity and collecting specimens for further study and research projects. 🔬🌱

🏫 Education: USW Union Journeymanship Mechanical Maintenance Tech II, 3g,4g,and 6g welding pipe certified, 31 years at JL/ATI Steel, and adult welding instructor at Maplewood Career Center

🚤 Hobbies/Interests: hunting, fishing, camping, and boating. I like to collect old cast iron pans and restore them. I love welding projects and also like Military trucks m35 a2's. My wife and I have a Tennessee lake house on Dale Hollow Reservoir that we love to spend time boating on.
⭐ Most famous person met: President Obama and got to talk to him about Unions. I would like to meet Garth Brooks someday, great singer!
