Many people want healing.
But they aren't willing to do what healing requires.
Too often we show up on Sunday asking God to take away our pain, restore our health, heal our relationships, remove our anxiety, or change our circumstances.
Yet we are unwilling to meet Him there.
We ask Him to heal us, but rarely stop to ask:
"Lord, what would You have me do?"
What habits need to change?
What thoughts need to be surrendered?
What wounds need to be addressed?
What relationships need to be reconciled?
What truths have I been avoiding?
What areas of my life have I placed above obedience to You?
The Bible is full of God's wisdom for our lives.
He has given us instructions regarding our physical health, our mental health, our emotional health, our relationships, and most importantly, our spiritual health.
Yet many of us continue praying for God to remove consequences while ignoring the wisdom He has already provided.
See the disconnect?
Healing is not something we achieve on our own.
And healing is not something we earn.
Healing is something we partner with God in.
Scripture tells us:
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight."
β Proverbs 3:5-6
Notice the invitation.
Trust.
Submit.
Follow.
Then He directs.
At Agape Grove, we believe God cares about the whole person.
Physical.
Mental.
Emotional.
Social.
Spiritual.
Because every one of those areas impacts our ability to live fully in the purpose He created us for.
The enemy wants us to believe we are powerless.
That we are victims of our circumstances.
That healing is impossible.
That change is out of reach.
But Scripture tells a different story.
"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."
β 2 Timothy 1:7
And:
"Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
β John 8:32
Freedom begins when we seek truth.
Healing begins when we surrender.
Growth begins when we stop asking God to simply remove our pain and start asking Him what He wants to produce through it.
James writes:
"Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance."
β James 1:2-3
God wastes nothing.
Not your pain.
Not your setbacks.
Not your struggles.
Not your story.
What if the very thing you've been asking God to remove is the very thing He's trying to use to transform you?
Meet Him there.
Seek His wisdom.
Ask Him to reveal what is standing between you and the healing He desires for you.
Then take the next step He places in front of you.
One step at a time.
Healing is a journey.
And God is faithful every step of the way. π
