Green Acres was founded in 1934 by parents and teachers who believed that children are naturally curious about their world and that they learn best in a comfortable, flexible environment. Inspired by the research of figures such as John Dewey of the University of Chicago and the Swiss developmental psychologist Jean Piaget, the group created a school that balanced children's social, emotional, phy

sical, and creative development in an atmosphere of intellectual challenge. They established an environment with small classes and a diverse student body, where the primary goal was to help children “learn to think and be creative in their thinking.”

Campus is quiet this week as our facilities team gets everything ready for teachers and students to return. Thanks to Sam, who spent this summer at camp tending to the garden, this is one space that facilities won’t have to worry about. Grizzlies, just wait until you see what’s been growing in the garden! 👀🌿🪏🥒🌶️

Whether you drop by the pool, peek into the art studio, pop into a classroom, or trek through the woods, you’ll see a whole pack of Green Acres grizzlies back on Danville Drive for camp. We’re grateful that Green Acres Camp gives us the chance to stay connected with our grizzlies even when school’s out! 💚☀️

With the school year officially behind us, the class of 2026 has crossed the threshold into 9th grade. Today, we’re shining our final spotlight on Jayce, whose Green Acres journey started in pre-k and is taking him to WWHS Leadership Academy for Social Justice in the fall. Congrats, Jayce! 🐻🎓✨

And congrats to all of our class of 2026 graduates! We can’t wait to see all the ways you each shine in high school and beyond. 🌟
