Thank you.

While we came up short in this election, I couldn't be more proud of what we accomplished together.

. The day after the election, once all the votes were counted, I was okay with the outcome. But many of you reached out and called for a recall or recount. I heard everyone of you.

A lot of you brought forward what you felt was compelling evidence, and out of respect for everyone who voted for me, I felt I owed it to you to look into it. This wasn't just my election, it belonged to everyone who wanted change. For the people who say I called the recount because I'm bitter. They obviously haven't been following along because I've said all along losing was still winning.

Unfortunately, after reviewing the numbers, they just don't add up to a different outcome. There simply aren't enough votes in question to change the results. So im not going to continue with the recount.

This campaign was never just about winning a seat. It was about giving parents a voice, getting people involved, and bringing attention to issues that matter. Looking around our community today, one thing is clear: parents are awake.

More people are paying attention, asking questions, attending meetings, and getting involved than ever before. That is a win for our children and for the future..

To everyone who voted for me, put up a sign, shared a post, or offered words of encouragement, thank you for believing in me. Your support, friendship, and trust mean the world to me.

An election may be over, but the work isn't. The conversations have started, the community is engaged, and that momentum doesn't stop here. The noise will only get louder and louder

Keep showing up. Keep asking questions. Keep fighting for our kids.

To the residents and taxpayers of our community,

After a great deal of thought, I have decided to begin the process of calling for a recall of the current school board election.

This is not a decision I take lightly. I ran because I believed our schools needed greater transparency, accountability, and leadership that truly listens to parents and taxpayers. Over time, I have watched concerns from families be ignored, important questions go unanswered, and trust between the community and the board continue to erode.
Our children, teachers, and taxpayers deserve a school board that puts education first, spends taxpayer dollars responsibly, and respects the voices of the people it serves. When elected officials stop representing the interests of the community, the community has the right to hold them accountable.
In the coming days, I will be sharing more information about the recall process and what steps residents can take if they choose to support this effort.
This is not about personal attacks or political divisions. It is about restoring accountability, transparency, and public trust in our school district.

HERD MENTALITY

What we have on the board right now is a herd mentality. They see the end coming, they get scared, and when a herd gets scared, it attacks.

Over the last few weeks, the attacks from this herd have become swift, obvious, and increasingly desperate. From fake websites claiming that I exaggerated what happened to my son—which ultimately resulted in him being treated at Boston Children's Hospital because of years of bullying that MSAD 60 ignored—to attempts to discredit my family, the behavior has been disgraceful.

My family went through hell. We spent countless hours in hospitals and psychiatrists' offices. My wife had to put her career on hold so she could stay home and care for our son. Yet despite all of that, they choose to attack him and downplay what he went through.

My son has absolutely nothing to do with my campaign. He should never have been dragged into it. The fact that some people would use a child's suffering for political purposes is disgusting.

Next are the constant questions and inquiries about my finances, coming from sitting board members and friends of sitting board members.

So let me be clear.

Yes, my company received COVID relief funding—not PPE loans, but a grant offered by the State of Maine. My accountant completed the application, determined that I qualified, and I accepted the grant in an effort to save my business. Just like thousands of other business owners, I utilized a program that was specifically created to help businesses survive during COVID.

They have also gone as far as pulling records from the code enforcement office showing that I dissolved my business operations at my Berwick property in 2018. That is true. I dissolved the business operations at that location because my wife wanted to start a business from our home. I notified the town that Stoneage would no longer operate from 68 Ridlon Road.

What that did not mean was that I dissolved my corporation or stopped running my business. We own other properties where I could legally operate, and I continued doing so.

What still confuses me is why my personal financial history has anything to do with serving on the school board. Were these same questions asked of the candidates from North Berwick? I highly doubt it.

The knewest one is that I am an AI generated. Candidate that my wife conjured up. I don't exist I am not real. I mean, I guess my wife dressed up like a man and had a fake. ID when she went to the town office to get the candidate up paperwork. I mean I can't write this malarkey.

The reality is simple: they see me as a threat.

What bothers them most is that I'm the quiet guy in the back of the room who watches everything, listens to everything, and processes what is going on before speaking. I'm not the one making fake websites. I'm not the one launching personal attacks that not warranted. I'm not the one digging into matters that have nothing to do with educating our children.

I'm simply asking questions, demanding accountability, and refusing to accept the status quo. And that makes some people very uncomfortable

POLICE HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED.

Since I've put up my signs, I've had to go out every night and fix Peg Wheeler supporters' childish behavior. Signs have been stolen, kicked down, pulled out, and run over by a vehicle.
My opponent cried that she wouldn't put out signs because my supporters would damage them. Looks like none of hers have been damaged. So before you point fingers (which, Peg, you are great at), you might want to put your supporters in check. They're not very bright to do it on CCTV and home security cameras. Some might get a little visit.
Thank you to my supporters for keeping it classy and not damaging her signs.
Also, I'm really disappointed that Peg didn't want to have an open forum to meet the candidates without her friends spoon-feeding questions. I really wanted to know what you are going to do that is so different for the future of the students, because the future looks pretty bleak for these kids and their test scores, and you have been on the board since 2006.

Thank you for your words, Berwick Real Clear Politics. After 20 years of failure, there is no hope for real change with Peg Wheeler still sitting on the board. Her DEI-driven, Democrat ideology is not what taxpayers want for their children. Parents want safe schools for ALL kids and better academic scores.
Peg seems more concerned with allowing boys in girls’ bathrooms and letting them compete on girls’ sports teams than focusing on academics and student success.
And in her own words, she said “that’s not smut” when referring to a video shown in school.. There is a difference between art and a book about an artist secretly painting a n**e portrait of a woman he is having an affair with.
It is not up to the board to dictate what we as parents should find acceptable for our children. That choice belongs to parents, not politicians or school board members.

As we get closer to the finish line of this campaign, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has supported Mat along the way. Seriously. The amount of people who have reached out, shared posts, donated, helped with signs, banners, mailers, palm cards, conversations, encouragement, and support has meant more to our family than you probably realize.

Local campaigns aren’t easy, and they definitely don’t happen without a whole lot of people stepping up behind the scenes. Every share, every contribution, every conversation, every sign on a lawn matters. And we appreciate all of it.

No matter what side people stand on, one thing is clear — this community cares deeply about our schools, our kids, and our town. That matters.

We’re heading into the final stretch now, and it’s absolutely going to be a race to the finish. We’re gonna keep pushing forward and giving this everything we’ve got right up until election day.

HERE IS A RESPONSE TO A QUESTION FROM LAUREN JANOUSEK

Good evening, Lauren. Thank you for your patience. Your questions are important and I needed some time to devote to answing you as writing isnt my strongest suit. Before I get into my skills, I feel I should give you a little of my background to help better understand me.

I was born in Edmunston NB Canada. I was raised in America. Frenchville, Madawaska, and Fort Kent. Living on the Canadian border, my 1st language in life was French. I became bilingual when I was 5 yrs old. As a child I was involved in Boy Scouts, Hockey, and lived for wrestling. I graduated Community High School with Honors and continued my academics in Culinary Arts and Business Science. I am a presidents award graduate. While in college I took part in several apprenticeship programs including Paul Prudhomme's Restaurant in New Orleans and Chef James at the Balsams in Dixfield Notch While I was in high school, I worked in both of my families restaurants where I learnt most of my business skills. When I meet my wife 27 years ago we opened a fine dining restaurant in Fort Kent with my parents backing. The RiverHouse was a big part of the community. While we had the restaurant, we catered to many social events in addition to the Town of Fort Kent hosting several biathlon events including the World Cup and IBC special olympics Biathlon. Events with community organizations like CanAm, Lions, Rotary and Chamber.
Specific to the historical 2003 2004 world cup. This competition included the top international biathletes in the world from europe, north america and other national teams competing on the world cup circuit. For this event, we saw approximately thirty thousand plus spectators across four days, averaging, roughly seven thousand five hundred people per day. It still holds the record for the largest crowd ever for a north american biathlon world cup. I was responsible for communivating with hundreds of international parapolegic competitors and staff preplanning and executing all events around food, beverage and entertainment. I was responsablity for all VIP Formal events, the central down town construction, entertainment and pavilion Bar, As well as continue our everyday restaurant and bar business responsibilities in addition the covenant governor's formal events. One would think this would be a logical nightmare being in a small town known for its seclusion. We assembled a great team and everything went off without a hitch and the Governors meal was a great success. I know how to handle stress.

Our family later relocated here to Berwick in 2009 where we are raising our 3 boys. Since then I've been an active parent, volunteer soccer and wrestling coach. I also served as a patrol leader for our local pack 313 cub scouts. I've also taken part in sponsoring our local teams through our businesses. As my kids grew we met many of their friends. Some from unfortunate circumstances. Mentorship became more important. Thats where as a family we created an open door policy. For all these kids to have a safe space, a place that feels like home should. Whether they moved in or if it was just for a meal or a nights sleep. A few of these kids have been students from MHA. This is how I learnt about MHA and the goal of the school. I got to know these kids and they looked to me for mentorship, safety and stability. Several of them, when they came of age came to work for me. Where they saw the benefits of learning a trade, working with their hands. Having a sense of pride and make great pay. I recognize the troubles that these kids are going through and I want to do better for them. To try and help them have a better outcome in life while working with Samantha's program at MHA which builds lifestyles, accountability and stability with connections through local businesses like ours. We will be able to provide more life building experiences and skill sets for these students not just those that have relationships with my sons. Stoneage will continue take part in participating in this life changing program.

For the last 27 years I have continued to own multiple businesses. I focus majority of my time to Stoneage. A commercial Hardscaping Corporation. As the owner, I've worn all hats. Between HR, operations, systems accounting (balance sheets, payroll, loss run, properly constructed budgets, job specific budgets and overall operations budgets), logistics. We service all of the eastern seaboard board. I am one of a hand full of wall builders that are certified and specialize to erect SRW and GRW walls of 25 ft or higher. Wherever we go, covering such a large territory creates automatic problems so logistics is a big concern. Solving these problems is a must for a successful install.
Leadership running multiple crews in different geographical locations, communication skills, Organizational skills (making sure everyday systems are in play) Negotiation skills both in selling work and creating contracts. Throughout this time I have made a reputation that I buy most of my materials from producers for 20 to 50 percent less then my competition because of my strong negotiating skills. Osha compliance and ADA compliance are another stong suit. Over the years I've had to study and know the laws surrounding ADA. With a lot of our work being government all applications have to meet ADA guidelines. This can directly impact our current non compliance in multiple areas and locations in our district as well as contribution to the skill set needed to help plan for the future schools of our district.

In my field there's no room for failure. It puts lives as well as property in danger. In 27 years we have not had a single failure because of the systems I have put in place. It is because of this reputation that I am also used as a forensic analysis consultant. I get the calls because everyone in the industry knows I get it done fast and safe. This is where I can revamp our bidding process and have insight on new construction projects and help and provide insight with ADA compliance problems.

In the end, I know you were asking for skill sets but I truly believe a persons character and attributes are a big part of their skill set and I feel I had to be more in detail about myself. I feel I bring a large skill set to the table in regards to being on the school board. One that is grounded in leadership, accounting, budget planning, logistics , saftey, negotiation and compassion. I know and understand the importance of accountability and transparency. I further understand the importance of quality and cost and budgetary numbers. I feel this can greatly serve in fiscal responsibility, spending and outcomes for our district. I understand how importance education and I value of kids.
