Stepping onto that stage for Akshaya’s Rangapravesha, doing nattuvangam for the first time with a live band, my heart was racing. I know there may have been slips, tiny hesitations, but right beside me was my guru, my amma,my anchor, quietly steadying every beat. Not everyone is blessed with that kind of quiet strength, the kind that comes just from your teacher’s presence. In that moment, I felt held, I felt safe.
