Attached is the Environmental Club's end-of-year project, which Ms. Gigi and Ms. Carlin worked on with our students. This project's intent was to help students understand how the everyday choices they make can positively impact their local environment, right here in North Bergen!

Throughout the project, students learned about seed balls and how they can be a practical way to support plant growth in urban areas like North Bergen. They discovered that the protective outer layer of a seed ball helps shield seeds from stray cats and other wildlife while giving them a better chance to grow and thrive.

Students also explored the importance of recycling in our community. They learned that North Bergen's recycling collection takes place every Sunday and discussed which items can be recycled and how to properly recycle.

In addition to the project, our Environmental Club members worked together to create environmental tips and riddles that were shared with the school during our morning announcements. This gave them the opportunity to promote environmental awareness among their peers.

Thank you very much for your support.

Our 6th grade scientists in Ms. Diaz's class proudly showcased their Dream Home Projects during their Open House! Using their research, students created 3D models of their dream homes and explained the science and engineering behind their design choices. They were excited to give tours of their future homes to Mrs. Del Monaco, Dr. Jaafar, and some amazing 4th and 5th grade students. May their dreams one day become reality!

🌎💧 Our STEAM 5th Grade students recently completed an exciting 3-Day Watershed Program filled with hands-on learning, environmental exploration, and plenty of memorable moments!

Students investigated how watersheds work, discovered the importance of protecting our water resources, and learned how everyday actions impact local ecosystems. Their curiosity and enthusiasm made the experience truly special.

🐟 Big shoutout to Giacomo for catching an eel, and to Mohamed and Juan Pablo for catching a toadfish during our field experiences! The students were thrilled to observe these amazing creatures up close.

To top off a fantastic three days, everyone enjoyed some well-deserved fun at the water park at Laurel Hil Park! 🌊☀️

We are so proud of our young scientists for their teamwork, curiosity, and love of learning. Experiences like these inspire the next generation of environmental stewards!

Dr. Ricco's fifth grade STEAM classes worked together to write and illustrate a book called The Story of Math. Each student chose a different mathematical topic to research. The book includes stories such as the origin of roman numerals, the invention of zero, biographies of famous mathematicians, and more. Writing this collaborative book not only taught them new facts about mathematics, but also instilled in them the joy of creating something meaningful together.

Another fun week of celebrations at Kennedy School! Thank you, Ms. Johana Ramos, for honoring our staff with flowers and lunch on Friday. Additional generous donations for lunch came from Sedona Taphouse and our very own, Kennedy Teacher Organization. Ms. Laura Kennedy, thank you for taking time to create this beautiful background and set up for the flowers, and for helping to deliver them to classrooms.

On behalf of the JFK administration, to all involved in making this a special month for every single staff member at Kennedy School, we are grateful for your thoughtfulness and for your generosity.
