The street names have changed and so has Six Corners since back in 1934. Once home to the First National Bank of North Bergen, The New Durham Post Office, and even two 50 foot high gas tanks! This intersection is one of the most famous in town!

Interested in the history of your street? Contact the North Bergen Room and take a look at our digital map collection.

Take a look at North Bergen circa 1880! These maps were taken from the Spielmann & Brush Hudson County Atlas.

There sure was a lot of space in town back then but notice some of the major landmarks like Schuetzen Park, 3 Pigeons, the Frenchman’s Garden and District School No. 5 which was the original Lincoln School.

For more information on our digital map collection contact the North Bergen Room.

Do you believe in ghosts? Well if you do you may want to avoid Grove Church Cemetery on Kennedy Boulevard.

Legend has it that there is a ghost that guards John Gardner’s tomb. It was vandalized shortly after his internment and has been the sight of many unexplained events.

To find out more about North Bergen’s haunted history, visit the North Bergen Library this Friday evening... if you dare.
