The second annual Kids Helping Kids, a benefit rock concert was a huge success! Oregon Coast Community Action would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Patty Becker’s Bach 2 Basics Lesson Studio, the youth from the bands; Buzz Krill, MetroGnomes and BachRock and to the families and friends that support them.
Over 200 people came to The Egyptian Theatre on Saturday March 18 to show their support and rock out to contemporary rock music.
“What I think is so cool about this event is that these kids get to experience a true service learning project. They work for months, practicing music of course, but also learning about homelessness, talking about what kids in their own schools are facing and collecting coins in their classrooms” said Sara Stephens, Development Director at Oregon Coast Community Action. “The talent these youth have is really incredible.”
Kids Helping Kids helps raise awareness and funds to support homeless youth in Coos County. This year we raised just over $3,000. These funds are for area homeless youth. From short term interventions like paying for id’s to helping with medical needs to finding, securing and helping youth become stabilized in supportive permanent housing, these dollars make a huge impact for area youth.
