NEW TO THE CREW! 😎 — Saxifraga stolonifera (aka Strawberry Begonia) !!
This has always been one of our favorite plants! Despite it’s common name, it’s not really a begonia. ‘Strawberry’ refers to this plant’s ability to send out runners (plant babies) similar to how strawberry plants do! 🍓
This isn’t the first one we’ve had but it’s going to be the first one we keep alive. 😂
Plus how could I pass on this $10 Lowe’s opportunity??

REALLY wish I had taken more progress pics of these guys because I am so pleased with how well they’re doing! This is my first set of propagations that I’ve done of peperomia.
They all started as leaf/stems propagated in water early September 2020 and then were planted in soil. They really started taking off when I got some new grow lights!
Can’t wait to propagate some more babies! It’s so addicting! 😂🌿

Two things that I’ve learned this week:
1.) The life span of a 24 pack of Ferrero Rocher chocolates is less than 8 hours in this household! 😂
AND
2.) Said Chocolates came in a pretty cool container that I MUST use in order to try and cover up the fact that I was the only one and ate all of them 🤷♀️
*I’m calling this an ‘experimentation’ because this isn’t how I normally propagate succulent leaves so it could go either way, but fingers crossed 🤞
1.) The Ferrero Rocher tray is made up of two parts: An insert with cells (where the chocolates were and where the leaves and soil will go) and a clear bottom tray (with a top) where our water will go.
I’m doing a “humidity only” propagation tray. The only source of moisture will come from the mother leaves and the water from the bottom tray.
2.) I filled the the individual cells with moist potting soil mixed with perlite. Because I’m wanting to try the “humidity only” thing I didn’t put any drainage holes in the cell tray ( I may regret this later, we shall see) I placed each of my succulent leaves in the individual cells.
I’m propagating Graptosedum and a few Echeveria Chroma leaves in this experiment.
I placed the leaves with the curved side down to prevent any water droplets from collecting on the leaves.
3.) Lastly I filled the bottom tray with just enough water to cover the bottom. I placed the cell tray back in the clear tray with the top back on and sat them on my propagation station in indirect light.
WISH ME LUCK! I will be posting an update on this in about 3 weeks! ☺️

Watering day for my orchids! I’ve had so much trouble in the past keeping these babies alive, but they seem to like my new care routine!
I soak the roots once a week (for about 15 minutes) and let them dry on my drying rack for the remainder of the day. I finish them off using some of Miracle Grow’s orchid feed spray on the leaves and growing medium! Really hope they bloom a second time this year! ❤️🌸
