Paper stock vs. finish: what's the difference?
STOCK is the paper itself.
• Text weight: lighter, used for letterheads and flyers
• Cover weight: heavier, used for business cards and postcards
• Uncoated: natural feel, easy to write on
• Coated: smoother surface, sharper color
FINISH is what's applied on top.
• Matte: no shine, easy to read
• Gloss: vibrant color, high shine
• Soft touch: velvety feel, premium impression
• Spot UV: glossy raised accents over a matte base
• Foil: metallic film that catches the eye
The same design feels completely different depending on the combo. The right choice affects durability, cost, and first impression before anyone reads a word.
