Despite continued testing, we unfortunately will not have a low enough 5-test average to allow swimming before our season ends this Friday! The beach will remain open until we close Friday for those interested.

Although high test results caused us to close for the final 4 days of the season, we were able to enjoy over 7 weeks of beautiful weather and water at Stevens Pond this summer, improving on the previous 2 years. Thank you to everyone who spent time with us this summer at the Pond!

Thanks to the North Andover Pollinators for their help with our garden this summer! 🌱

North Andover Pollinators has been planting in the garden at Stevens Pond since last summer and steadily transitioning it to more native plants. North Andover Pollinators’ mission is to promote native plantings and healthy habitats for pollinators and all wildlife. We are part of the National Pollinator Pathway. To learn more, visit pollinator-pathway.org/towns/north-andover.

We can all make a difference starting in our own yards by doing these simple things:

- Plant a variety of native plants, including trees, shrubs, grasses, and flowers
- Avoid use of chemical fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides in favor of safer alternatives
- Reduce lawn size in favor of native plantings that support a variety of wildlife and pollinators
- Leave the leaves, seedheads, and stems in the landscape for the benefit of pollinators, birds, and other wildlife
- Control and remove, when possible, invasive plants
- Turn out the lights at night to support moths, fireflies, and other night time pollinators

By making some simple changes we can improve the connections and pathways and create a healthy ecosystem with greater diversity of native species.

Let North Andover Pollinators know if you’d like to get involved, by emailing [email protected]

Here are the native plants that are currently featured in our garden:

- Rudbeckia - Black Eyed Susans

- Butterfly Milkweed
- Swamp Milkweed

The Pond is currently closed for swimming due to a high bacteria result on this morning’s water test. We will be retesting, and will post and email an update to our passholders if we are able to reopen the water safely before the season ends this Friday 8/21!
