(ES): ¡Hoy, la Escuela Intermedia Blockson recibió una visita muy especial: la Representante del Congreso Mary Gay Scanlon! 🌱✨💚🌻 La Representante del Congreso Scanlon visitó el huerto escolar de Blockson, dirigido por Cheryl Brumbaugh, exalumna del NASD. El huerto sigue brindando a los estudiantes oportunidades de aprendizaje práctico, al tiempo que fomenta el amor por la naturaleza y un estilo de vida saludable. Un agradecimiento especial a Cheryl por su dedicación y arduo trabajo para convertir el huerto en un espacio tan significativo para nuestros estudiantes y la comunidad escolar.

(EN): Blockson Middle School welcomed a special visitor today, Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon! 🌱✨💚🌻 Congresswoman Scanlon stopped by to visit Blockson’s school garden, led by NASD alumna Cheryl Brumbaugh. The garden continues to provide students with hands-on learning opportunities while helping cultivate a love of nature and healthy living. A special thank you to Cheryl for her dedication and hard work in making the garden such a meaningful space for our students and school community.

How fitting that for the first day of school, our 5th grade students took their first steps into One Norristown! Yesterday, students worked collaboratively in small groups to explore a simple but powerful question:

What does it look, feel, and sound like to be part of a community?

In one classroom, students shared ideas, listened to one another, challenged each other’s thinking, and began building a collective understanding of what community really means. They talked about what they see around them, how a community should feel, and what it means to belong—not just as an individual, but as someone who has a responsibility to the people around them.

There was conversation. There was curiosity. There were different perspectives. And there was collaboration.

Most importantly, students were beginning to understand that a community is something we create together. It is built through relationships, respect, shared experiences, and a willingness to listen and contribute.

What a wonderful way to begin our One Norristown journey!
