NEWS: Kathy Pegion, Associate Professor and Williams Chair in the College of Atmospheric and Geographic Sciences, and Somik Ghosh, Professor and Construction Science Professional Advisory Board Professor in the Gibbs College of Architecture, have been named 2026 OVPRP Faculty Fellows.

Over the next year, they will build upon and enhance OVPRP's existing programs, resources and activities that support OU faculty in their scholarly research and creative activities.

Pegion holds the Williams Endowed Chair in the School of Meteorology, has published more than 57 peer-reviewed papers and has received more than $9 million in research funding from organizations including NOAA, NASA, DOE and NSF.

Ghosh has secured funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation, the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy and the National Housing Endowment. He also mentors graduate students in construction science and is a past chair of The University of Oklahoma Research Council.

🗞️ 𝙏𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙨 has been awarded a grant from the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts!

This is the publication's second time to receive the grant and it will be used to support its upcoming issues, volume nine 𝙋𝙖𝙪𝙨𝙚 and volume ten 𝙍𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙩.

𝙏𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙨' seventh volume, 𝙐𝙣𝙛𝙤𝙡𝙙 earned the spot and marks the journal's fourth recognition of excellence in student architectural journalism.

We are saddened to learn of the passing of alumnus J. Todd Scott, whose career was dedicated to documenting, preserving, and reimagining historic architecture across the country. As an architect and urban designer, Todd believed in the value of the built environment, from historic landmarks to overlooked spaces, and inspired communities to preserve the places that tell their stories. His passion for thoughtful preservation leaves a lasting legacy. We extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and all who were touched by his work.

At Gibbs, design extends beyond the classroom. 🧑‍🏫

Architecture, interior design, planning and sustainable energy students partnered with Oklahoma Veterans Centers in Ardmore, Claremore and Sulphur to develop recommendations that could shape future renovations and improve the lives of veterans across the state.

This project reflects Gibbs' commitment to hands-on learning and community impact.

🏡 Join Gibbs College alumnus Brian L. Freese for a presentation on his firm's regionalist architecture at the Philbrook Museum of Art in Tulsa!

The Freese Architecture namesake will explore notable home maps from his career that embody his individual design approach, which he labels Midwest Modern.
