OUtstanding Saturday morning, working with the Deer Creek Middle School bands before they headed out to Six Flags! This was a great real-world opportunity for some of our soon-to-be professional educators. And look at all those OU MUED alums!! (We’ll gladly adopt Ms. Patterson 😉). We had our first “Masterclass Monday” today!
This new partnership with the Music Education Department at the OU School of Music allows MUED students opportunities to teach smaller groups to practice strategies and techniques for teaching music! Our IMS students then gain invaluable knowledge and get better at their instruments - a win/win for all involved!
We were glad to have OU Senior, Isaiah Crawford, out today to work some low brass magic with our 7th and 8th Grade low brass sections!

Darby Cassaday (General Manager, OKC Philharmonic), Lynn Herbel (Choral Director, Moore High School), and Brad Benson (Fine Arts Coordinator (ret.), Norman Public Schools) for sharing the evening and their expertise with our student teachers! Individuals mock interviews, group discussion, and notes on their materials to get our interns ready for the job market.
