The Oklahoma Academy is a private, Nonpartisan/non-profit membership organization that raises citizen awareness and engagement on the major public policy issues. Our methods for creating engagement start with education–you can find research on almost every issue in Oklahoma public policy in our online library–and they move into motion with our Town Hall events, where citizens can discuss policy and discover solutions, together.

We appreciate the shoutout from Let’s Pod This!

In discussing Gov. Kevin Stitt’s proposal to ask Oklahoma voters about calling a constitutional convention, the conversation turned to an important question: If Oklahoma is going to have a discussion this significant, how do we make sure Oklahomans have a meaningful voice in it?

Their suggestion? Look to the Oklahoma Academy Town Hall process.

For nearly 60 years, The Oklahoma Academy for State Goals has brought Oklahomans with different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives together to study complex issues, listen to one another and work toward consensus.

Whatever the issue, we believe good public policy starts with informed citizens, civil discussion and a process that gives people a seat at the table.

It’s Election Day, Oklahoma!

Polls are open today, August 25, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

In addition to the Republican and Democratic Runoff Primaries, every registered Oklahoma voter — Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians and Independents — can vote on State Question 844 and State Question 846. Some voters will also have local municipal or school propositions on their ballots.

At The Oklahoma Academy for State Goals, elections and civic participation are the center of important conversations during our Town Halls. Oklahomans from across the state come together to examine how our election system works, who gets to participate, how voters engage in the process, and how we can strengthen representative government.

Those conversations produced citizen-driven recommendations aimed at encouraging greater voter participation, more competitive elections, stronger civic engagement and an election system that gives Oklahomans a meaningful voice.

Town Halls are where Oklahomans talk about the future of our state. Election Day is where Oklahomans have the opportunity to help shape it.

Who is the Oklahoma Academy?

The best answer comes from the people who make it what it is.

The Oklahoma Academy for State Goals brings Oklahomans together—from different communities, professions, backgrounds and perspectives—to have meaningful conversations about the issues shaping our state.

We listen. We learn from one another. We find common ground. And through our Town Hall process, Oklahomans turn those conversations into citizen-driven recommendations for Oklahoma’s future.

But the Academy is more than a process or an organization. It is our members. It is people who care deeply about Oklahoma and are willing to come to the table, ask hard questions and work together toward thoughtful solutions.

Early voting for the August 25 Runoff Primary Election and state question elections begins this week.

📅 Early Voting Hours
Thursday, August 20 | 8 a.m.–6 p.m.
Friday, August 21 | 8 a.m.–6 p.m.
Saturday, August 22 | 8 a.m.–2 p.m.

Election Day is Tuesday, August 25.

And an important reminder: all registered Oklahoma voters are eligible to vote on State Questions 844 and 846 — including Independents and Libertarians. Voters may also participate in any nonpartisan elections and local propositions for which they are eligible. You do not have to participate in a party primary to vote on the state questions.

Oklahoma does have closed party primaries in 2026, so participation in a Democratic or Republican runoff primary requires registration with that party.

Before you vote, take a few minutes to check your early voting location, polling place and sample ballot through the OK Voter Portal.
