Happy summer break, t-wolves! Stay sharp this summer and expand your reading world (and do some fun free things around Norman)! Get a Bingo and bring it back to school for a chance to win a cool prize!
Where students come to learn, make and create, and find their next great read.

Happy last day of school! The 2025-2026 school year was one that showed a lot of growth in the library once we sat down and crunched our numbers. Check out the highlights in our annual report which uses the AASL standards for school libraries as our guide. From increased book checkouts to an incredible spike in Makerspace and audio lab usage to a full 115 more classes taught, the North Library served the school to the max! Here’s to a fun and busy year and on to another one after a well-deserved summer break.

We’re excited to share our annual report tomorrow, but one of the stats we’re most excited to share is our growth in physical book checkouts! It’s been a goal for some time to check out over 10K and this year we did it! 10,243 to be exact with that being a 22% growth from last school year. From choice reads in various classes, lots of new books, and even sprucing up some display areas, it’s been an effort to get every reader a book (or two) that they’ll enjoy.

Mrs. Dettmann recently taught a lesson to Mr. Lallemand’s leadership classes about leadership shown during the OKC Bombing using videos, reflection, and archival materials including newspapers, magazines, and photos from 1995 donated by Truman Elementary library volunteer Carolyn Hanneman. Students got to read and watch how the Oklahoma Standard came to be and how kindness and community can shine through tragedy. We’re honored get to use these materials to help teach about this important time.

Mr. Cavazos’s World History classes ended their Cold War inquiry research unit with project speed dating and self evaluation . Students rotated one-on-one and heard their classmates share their art, podcasts, video games, and wrote down what they learned from each other as well as filled out a self evaluation.

We are so exited to share that the Norman North and Norman High AP Capstone and Library teachers were recently awarded the 2026 University of Oklahoma Libraries’ Library Partner Award. Check us out with our hardware with our fabulous AP Seminar teacher, Dr. Adkins and AP Research teacher, Mrs. Pawley. Our partnership with the amazing librarians at OU that help with presentation consultations and research give North’s AP Capstone students all the tools they need to bring home the big scores and special distinctions. Thank you to OU Libraries for this special honor.

Ms. Smith worked with Ms. B on the annual Geometry castle calculation and building project! A fantastical gallery walk ended the week and half long project and the sweet bee castle was declared the ultimate winner and will be displayed in the library for all the admire.
