Yesterday, our 4th grade students had the opportunity to help leave a lasting mark on Monroe while learning an important piece of Oklahoma history.
Mrs. Allen’s husband visited with students to share his family’s personal connection to the Oklahoma City bombing. Mr. Allen’s dad was one of the 168 people we lost on April 19, 1995. Yesterday, Mr. Allen spoke with 4th grade students about remembrance, resilience, and hope, and read the book “The Survivor Tree.”
To honor those affected and symbolize strength and healing, Mr. Allen, Mrs. Allen, and their son Avery — one of our very own Monroe PreK students — worked alongside our 4th graders to plant a Survivor Tree seedling on the front lawn of Monroe, right by the southwest bike racks!
We are grateful for the Allen family’s willingness to share their story and for the meaningful opportunity our students had to be part of something that will continue to grow for years to come.

5th grade vs Teachers Volleyball 🏐✨
One of our favorite Monroe traditions! Students eagerly wait for 5th grade year when they get to take on their teachers in a game of volleyball. The 5th graders practice in PE with coach Bo in the classes leading up to the game. They come prepared and ready to play! Way to compete, Mustangs!

5th grade egg drop 🥚✨
This past week, 5th grade worked in teams to pick materials and design containers to protect their raw eggs. The containers were dropped from the roof and students were able to examine their eggs following the drop.
Many eggs survived! Way to go, 5th grade!
