WHICH STRING INSTRUMENT IS FOR YOU? 🎻

There’s more than one way to make music in the NPS orchestra!

Fifth grade students can choose from four beginning instruments:

🎻 Violin – The smallest of the four and often carries the melody.

🎻 Viola – A little larger than the violin with a deeper, warm sound.

🎻 Cello – A larger instrument with a rich, resonant sound.

🎻 Bass – The biggest of the four and brings the low end to the orchestra.

Not sure which one sounds right for you? That’s OK! Orchestra teachers will help students learn about the instruments and find the right size.

Norman High and Norman North face off tonight in a crosstown softball showdown!

🎻 Calling all fifth graders! 🎶

Interested in learning to play a string instrument? Norman Public Schools is offering beginning orchestra classes in violin, viola, cello and bass for all interested fifth grade students!

Classes begin Tuesday, Sept. 8, and meet Monday-Thursday during the school day. Each class is 30 minutes.

Parents and students are also invited to a special Orchestra Parent Information Night on Thursday, Sept. 3, at the Center for Arts and Learning, 3801 Journey Parkway, where you can meet the orchestra teachers, ask questions and learn more about renting an instrument.

String instruments come in different sizes, and teachers will help students find the right fit when classes begin.

Give your fifth grader the opportunity to discover the joy of making music! 🎶

When he noticed Eisenhower Elementary’s new front landscaping needed a little extra love, he jumped in and watered the plants. 🌱
