The Native American Law Student Association (NALSA) welcomes all students interested in the study of Native American law and Indigenous Peoples issues generally. Through NALSA, students obtain and promote a greater understanding of indigenous values and perspectives within the law school community, support the recruitment and retention of Native American students, and organize networking opportunities with scholars, alumni and practitioners in the field.

We are so thrilled for Professor Pearl! He cares so deeply for his students and for the demanding task of creating our future legal leaders. We cannot imagine a more deserving professor for this honor. Congratulations, Professor Pearl!
Alex Pearl was named the Chickasaw Nation Endowed Chair in Native American Law.
Professor Pearl said he went into law because "I wanted to advance the health, welfare, and self determining ability for tribal communities. He went into TEACHING law for two reasons. First, teaching gives him the opportunity have a hand in preparing the next generation of lawyers. Second, it permits him to educate that next generation about the legal status of Native nations within the American legal system.
Teaching also gives him the opportunity to watch students develop their skills and critical thinking abilities.
"Over the course of a semester, I get to watch the students go from having little to no knowledge about a subject matter area, to being in a position to educate their future employers about these same areas. It’s a lot of fun to watch them make the connections, put the concepts together, and do complex analysis."

We have some incredible members! Check out our NALSA president Reagan and what he has been up to this summer!
“This summer I’m working at a firm called Devol & Associates in Edmond, Oklahoma. I came to Law school in order to practice Native Law and I sought this firm out because of the work that they do with Oklahoma's Tribes. I am fortunate enough to be able to work on Native Law issues with people who are as dedicated to the field as I am.”
