Join us for the 9th OU International WaTER Symposium, presented by the OU WaTER Center!

The symposium will feature a dinner, a panel discussion on global water issues, and the announcement of the 2027 OU International Water Prize recipient. The event is open to OU faculty, staff, and students, as well as members of the local & regional community, international guests and organizations interested in water, the environment, and sustainability.

Nearly 50 high school students from three states spent four days at the University of Oklahoma exploring one of the fastest-growing fields in technology during the inaugural Artificial Intelligence Summer Camp hosted by the Gallogly College of Engineering.

The new camp, developed in partnership with the OU School of Computer Science, challenged students to move beyond learning about artificial intelligence by applying it to real-world problems. Working in small teams, participants identified challenges in healthcare, environmental sustainability, entertainment and society, then designed, built and presented AI-based solutions. Throughout the week, students also examined ethical considerations, including bias, accessibility, and responsible AI development.

A dog named Duck may someday get a new prosthetic leg thanks to engineering freshmen at the University of Oklahoma.

Over four weeks this summer, teams of incoming engineering students designed mobility devices for Duck, a young rescue dog born without a front leg. Students in OU's Engineering Summer Bridge program designed and prototyped mobility devices tailored to Duck's needs, using CAD software, electronics and 3D printing while applying the engineering design process to real engineering problem.

In December 2024, students from the Gallogly College of Engineering brought illuminating engineering to the Chickasha Festival of Light.

Two years later, this project has won the 2026 RedBud Award for Best Partnership. This award recognizes collaboration in developing the smart networked control system for the festival's dynamic lighting display.

The OU Polytechnic Institute has operated with multiple entry points since its early development, including degree completion pathways in Tulsa, graduate education and industry-connected learning experiences that serve working professionals and transfer students, as well as four-year degree pathways that allow students to complete their full academic journey within the same applied learning framework.

With its continued expansion into Norman, the institute is extending that model to more first-time college students while maintaining and strengthening its long-standing commitment to Tulsa and northeast Oklahoma.

Join us in congratulating Yifu Li on his tenure and promotion, beginning Fall 2026 as an Associate Professor!

Professor Li's research integrates data-driven modeling, such as spectral theory-based graph AI, with multi-modality data sets in smart manufacturing, cybersecurity, and healthcare. His methods provide analytics solutions on large-scale and multi-modality data enhanced performance and interpretation.

His research has been published in various journals, such as the Journal of Manufacturing Science and Engineering, the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association, and IISE Transactions. His research is supported by federal agencies, including but not limited to the National Science Foundation, the United States Department of Agriculture, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, and the Department of Defense.
