University of Oklahoma Sooner Powered Vehicle Team

University of Oklahoma Sooner Powered Vehicle Team Oklahoma SPV is a project that involves the planning and manufacturing tasks found when introducing a new product to the market. We are Oklahoma SPV!

Oklahoma Sooner Powered Vehicle is a competition team at the University of Oklahoma. The purpose of this team is to design, test, and manufacture a recumbent bicycle for the ASME Human Powered Vehicle competition. In many areas throughout the world, human powered vehicles are the only means of transportation. Our team strives to develop innovative designs for recumbent bicycles to make transportat

ion as efficient and comfortable as possible. Tasks include product modelling, 3D computer design, failure analysis, and hands-on fabrication. Members are given the opportunity to network with OU faculty, local businesses and sponsors. Those interested in joining will gain valuable experience with welding, milling, grinding, and other types of machining. As a smaller organization members can communicate efficiently and effectively, and be fully immersed in every aspect of the project. As a young Engineer, this is an excellent opportunity to gain real world experience. It is very fulfilling to see a manufactured product that was once only visualized on paper. Our goal is to empower OU Engineering students to use their classroom knowledge and apply it to a design process.
