Here's a fun experiment! I have three colorless solutions. What color do you think they make when mixed together?

Chemistry is like magical art, but better because it's real!

Do not recreate this experiment at home. I'm working with hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide, and phenolphthalein. This color change is a result of a pH shift during an acid/base neutralization. Individually, these chemicals can be harmful.

I wired a circuit board with an RGB LED and wrote a program to make it do this for an assignment in electromechanical systems.

This was fun! Do you have fun with any of your assignments?

Today is Carl Friedrich Gauss's 244th birthday. He revolutionized nearly every area of mathematics and made breakthrough contributions to our understanding of electricity and magnetism. He calculated the orbits of Ceres and Pallas. He was an inventor and created devices to measure electricity, magnetism, and the shape of the earth (heliotrope). Could you imagine doing all of this before there were computers? Happy birthday Gauss!
