I began Quilts by Kristy in 2010 with the ultimate goal of being a stay-at-home parent while still providing an income for our family. What started as a small endeavor has grown into a wonderfully busy business though a lot of hard work and the recommendations of my loyal clients. Each day I am able to work on beautiful quilts and return them to clients who are always so happy to see the finished

product; I couldn't ask for a better job! Quilts by Kristy provides longarm quilting services on two Gammill Statler Stitchers. This means that patterns are digital, and therefore the quality of my quilting is very consistent. As a science teacher by trade, I am very meticulous, and that is reflected in my work. Conversely, I rarely do freehand work because I dislike the unpredictability of the stitching. Both of my machines can fit quilts with a width of 120" or less (there is no limit to the length). At this point, I am no longer creating any T-shirt quilts or doing custom quilting; these types of services require too much time away from my family. Two more beautiful quilts from Donna came through the studio.

The first features fabric by her favorite designer, Chong-A Hwang, from the Escapade collection. She was thrilled to find it on sale at Shabby Fabrics and built the quilt around the stunning center panel, adding borders until it reached queen size. The rich blues, dramatic black background, and touches of gold make it such an elegant quilt. We finished it with Butterfly Waltz in gold thread, adding graceful movement that complements the butterflies and florals throughout the design.

The second quilt is for one of Donna’s great-grandchildren and showcases the stack-and-whack technique, where layered fabric is cut to create kaleidoscope-like four-patch blocks. The bold oranges, blacks, and fiery prints create so much warmth and energy. We quilted it with Troubled Seas, whose gentle flowing lines add texture while letting the vibrant fabrics take center stage.

Sue made this cheerful quilt for her daughter, and every detail has a special meaning. After three brain surgeries for a tumor that is still present, her daughter chose a cupcake tattoo simply because it made her happy; it’s a beautiful reminder to find joy in the little things.

Bright colors, playful cupcake prints, and cheerful piecing make this quilt just as uplifting as its inspiration. We finished it with the Cupcakes quilting design, a perfect complement that adds even more sweetness to every block.

Teri made this quilt for her husband, whose favorite place to be is out on the water with a fly rod in hand. The mix of fishing-themed fabrics, rich earth tones, and pops of turquoise gives the quilt plenty of personality, while the layout lets each print shine.

We finished it with Wood Grain, a quilting design that adds gentle movement and a natural feel. It complements the outdoorsy theme beautifully and even gives a subtle nod to the ripples of a quiet stream.

Sabrina brought in two beautiful quilts, each with its own personality. The first, made for her and her husband to enjoy at home, features a striking geometric design in calming shades of blue and green. We quilted it with Cindy’s Water, a flowing wave pattern that complements the quilt’s clean lines and peaceful color palette.

The second is a sweet baby quilt in soft, soothing prints. It was quilted with Moon and Stars, adding a gentle touch of whimsical texture that fits the nursery theme beautifully.

Sheryl’s cheerful Sesame Street quilt was such a fun one to have on the frame! Bright primary colors, favorite characters, and Asher’s name stitched right into the quilt make it a keepsake that’s sure to be loved for years.

I quilted this one with Loop the Loop, a playful design that adds soft texture and a little extra whimsy. The rounded loops echo the fun, carefree feel of Sesame Street while letting all of the colorful fabrics and familiar faces shine.

Three beautiful quilts from Marcia came through the studio, showcasing a wonderful mix of colors, fabrics, and designs.

The first quilt spells out LOVE, with each letter created from vibrant Kaffe Fassett fabrics. It was quilted with Dear Heart, a heart-filled design that complements the theme while adding soft texture to the white background.

The second quilt is a lovely sampler featuring a variety of traditional blocks in soft florals and calming blues. I quilted it with a classic Meander, adding gentle movement that lets all of the piecing take center stage.

The final quilt is a colorful flying geese wall hanging full of cheerful movement and bright fabrics. It was also quilted in Meander, giving it a light, flowing texture that complements all of the angles and color.

Cathy has been busy creating, and I had the chance to quilt three of her recent projects!

The first is a charming cat table topper, quilted in Loop the Loop. The continuous swirls almost look like strands of yarn, making it a fun complement to the playful cat design.

Next is a Colonial Williamsburg-inspired table topper made with fabrics Cathy picked up during a trip to Colonial Williamsburg. I quilted this one with Pansies, a soft floral design that adds texture while letting the beautiful historic scenes remain the focal point.

The third project is a fun Halloween wall hanging featuring an adorable ghost witch and Frankenstein. It was quilted with Spindle, a spider web-inspired quilting design that was the perfect finishing touch for this spooky seasonal project.

It’s amazing how a simple color palette can make such a statement. Jennifer’s pieced heart has wonderful dimension, and quilting it in Star Swirl with gold thread carries the patriotic theme across the entire quilt. The stars blend beautifully into the striped heart while the swirling curves soften the overall design, adding texture without distracting from the piecing.

Jan made this special quilt for her grandson, filling it with thoughtful details from front to back. The pieced front celebrates state birds and flowers, with several blocks featuring beautifully embroidered birds that add even more personality and charm.

The surprise continues on the back with a National Parks panel, making this a quilt with two sides worth admiring. I quilted it in Tamarack Wood Grain, a design whose flowing lines echo the feeling of wood grain and complement the nature-inspired fabrics throughout the quilt.

Georgia created this sweet sampler baby quilt featuring the softest shades of blue, gray, and cream, with the cutest little sheep sprinkled throughout. I always enjoy sampler quilts because every block offers something a little different, making the finished quilt fun to explore.

Dear Heart was a beautiful complement for this quilt. Its gentle hearts add soft movement throughout the design while allowing each unique block and the adorable sheep prints to remain the stars of the show.
