I began Quilts by Kristy in 2010 with the ultimate goal of being a stay-at-home parent while still providing an income for our family. What started as a small endeavor has grown into a wonderfully busy business though a lot of hard work and the recommendations of my loyal clients. Each day I am able to work on beautiful quilts and return them to clients who are always so happy to see the finished product; I couldn't ask for a better job! Quilts by Kristy provides longarm quilting services on two Gammill Statler Stitchers. This means that patterns are digital, and therefore the quality of my quilting is very consistent. As a science teacher by trade, I am very meticulous, and that is reflected in my work. Conversely, I rarely do freehand work because I dislike the unpredictability of the stitching. Both of my machines can fit quilts with a width of 120" or less (there is no limit to the length). At this point, I am no longer creating any T-shirt quilts or doing custom quilting; these types of services require too much time away from my family. Paula has been busy with these four quilts, covering several seasons and styles!

Her fall quilt features patchwork pumpkins in shades of orange, gray, and black, with lots of fun fabric combinations. We quilted it in Windswept, adding flowing swirls throughout the pumpkins and background. The cozy orange backing really shows off the quilting!

Her winter village quilt is filled with colorful houses, snowy trees, reindeer, and all sorts of charming Christmas details. We quilted it in Midnight Sparkle, adding swirls and stars to complement the festive scene.

Paula’s cat quilt is full of personality, with playful cats, funny sayings, and a great combination of black, red, and cream fabrics. We quilted it in Dear Heart, which adds hearts throughout the quilt and looks especially fun against the bright pink backing.

Finally, her shamrock wall hanging features several shades of green in traditional pieced blocks. We quilted it in Baptist Fan, giving it a classic finish that works beautifully with the traditional fabrics and piecing.

Barb made this beautiful quilt for her new baby grandson, Nathan! She used the Upscale Plaid pattern by Lo & Behold Stitchery, combining several shades of blue with crisp white and little touches of warm brown. I love the clean, modern look of this pattern and how the different blues overlap to create the plaid design.

We quilted it in Diagonal Plaid, adding another layer of geometric texture that works so well with the piecing. And tucked onto the back is a sweet embroidered message from Nana to Nathan, a special little detail he’ll have for years to come!

Jan brought in this striking quilt featuring beautifully detailed woodland animals, birds, and butterflies! The floral appliqué adds such a fun touch to each animal, and I love how the birch bark backgrounds and rich shades of brown, rust, and black give the whole quilt a rustic, outdoorsy feel. The staggered arrangement of the blocks makes it especially interesting to look at.

We quilted it in Wood Grain, which was a natural choice for this woodland theme! The flowing, irregular lines add texture and movement while complementing the woodsy fabrics and letting those detailed appliqué designs stand out.

Eileen pieced this lovely quilt using the traditional Churn Dash block. I love the soft, cheerful mix of pinks, blues, greens, yellows, and purples! The variety of prints gives each block a slightly different look, while the pale pink sashing ties everything together.

We quilted it in a classic meander, adding soft, rounded texture across the quilt without competing with the piecing. Sometimes a simple quilting design is just what a traditional quilt needs!

Kathy brought in a couple of showstoppers! The first features a beautiful collection of star blocks, all made with the same design but in a wonderful variety of colors and prints. The charcoal sashing and soft sage accents frame the blocks so nicely. We quilted it in Halcyon, adding flowing curves and swirls that soften the geometric piecing.

The second is a scrappy beauty! I love how all those little pieces of colorful fabric create a repeating pattern against the crisp white background. We quilted it in Darlene’s Paisley, and the swirling design looks especially striking in the open white spaces, adding lots of texture without taking attention away from the piecing.

Becca and her daughter Whitney always send me the most fun quilts! The first is a soft, cozy flannel quilt with a cheerful mix of pinks, purples, and turquoise. I love the little pops of lime green and the cute owl prints tucked in among the fabrics. We quilted it in Butterflies, adding a playful touch to an already sweet quilt.

The second is ready for Christmas with all of its adorable holiday pups! There are dogs in Santa hats, Christmas sweaters, and even a few dressed as reindeer. We quilted it in Dog Treats, with bones, hearts, and paw prints that show up especially well on the dark green backing. Such a fun combination!

Kim’s Antique Garden Party is a quilt with so much to look at! It’s made with vintage feed sacks, with dozens of colorful blocks set against all of those tiny black and cream squares. Even the backing is made from feed sacks, with the original printing still visible. Kim won first place with this quilt in the Large Pieced Longarmed category at our guild’s quilt show this past spring!

We quilted it in Darlene’s Paisley, which adds lots of swirling texture without competing with all of those wonderful fabrics and tiny pieces. I especially love how clearly the paisleys show up on the black border and across the feed sack backing.

Lori made this cheerful flower-filled quilt, and there are so many fun details to notice. I especially like the flowers winding through the center and all of the different prints she used throughout. It has such a happy, springy feel.

We quilted it in Fable, a whimsical floral design with flowers, leaves, and little curls tucked throughout. A variegated pastel thread adds another subtle bit of color and looks especially pretty across the light background.

This client pieced this quilt using a tutorial from Missouri Star Quilt Co. I love how the repeated blocks create so much movement across the quilt, especially as they turn in different directions. The purples stand out beautifully against the softer background fabrics, and the mix of textures in the prints adds even more interest.

We quilted it in Good Vibrations, with flowing, gently curving lines that play right into all of that movement in the piecing. The quilting shows especially well across the lighter fabrics and gives the whole quilt a wonderful sense of motion.

Sabrina made this sweet baby quilt with a mix of patchwork blocks framed in soft, muted fabrics. I like how every block is a little different, but the white sashing ties everything together and gives the quilt such a clean, gentle look.

We quilted it in Animal Crackers, which adds giraffes, lions, elephants, and other little animals wandering across the quilt. It’s a fun detail that you don’t necessarily notice from across the room, but is so cute when you get a closer look.
