The Center provides students with opportunities to learn and practice civic engagement.

The Center for Civic Engagement was established to further strengthen Illinois State University’s commitment to its core value of civic engagement. The Center supports existing service learning, civic learning, and political engagement programs and acts as a catalyst to create and coordinate additional future programming. It serves as a point of contact for faculty, staff, students, and community organizations interested in learning more about the campus’ community engagement initiatives.

SOCKtober is here! 🧦

We’re kicking off our annual sock drive to collect socks for the children sponsored through the Holiday Helper program!

Socks are a basic necessity and have historically been among the most requested items in the program, so we need your help to make sure every kid gets them!

📍This October, we are collecting new and in-package socks in sizes baby through youth. Drop off the socks at the Center for Civic Engagement (College Place Uptown, Suite C) or find a drop box across campus, including at the following locations:

▪️ Multicultural Center
▪️ Residencial Hall lobbies
▪️ Children’s Discovery Museum

Network and make your voice heard 🤝 The Town of Normal Meet and Greet is a unique opportunity for students to connect with community leaders, voice their concerns, and gain insights into the town’s initiatives!

📌Join us on October 5 at the Normal City Hall (enter through Uptown Station and take the elevators to the 4th floor). Stop by anytime between 5:30-6:45 p.m.

Your artwork can become an official sticker! ✨ The Center for Civic Engagement is hosting a design contest for a special “I Voted” sticker.

🎨 To participate, submit your design to [email protected] by October 5
🏆 The top 2 designs will go to a public vote at Voterpalooza (Oct. 27, 4–6 p.m., Brown Ballroom)
👑 The winner gets a CCE swag bag, a Bone Student Center gift card, AND their design featured on Election Day, Nov. 3, at CCE greeter tables on campus!

Today marks the final day of our Constitution Day celebrations, and we’re glad we got to meet so many of you at the pop-up civics test on the quad yesterday!

💡 Stop by our interactive table on the quad today, September 17, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and answer 10 randomly selected questions from the U.S. Naturalization Test.

✅ Get at least 6 correct to pass and earn prizes and bragging rights. It’s a fun, quick way to learn more about our government this Constitution Day!

This week, join a Constitution Scavenger Hunt!

📜 Each mission will guide you to a new location with a clue pointing to the next panel of the Constitution.

📍Start outside Schroeder Hall 130, where you’ll find a question based on the panel’s content. Answer it correctly using the Goosechase app to earn points and unlock your next destination.

🏆 Those who complete the Scavenger Hunt will have the opportunity to be entered into a drawing for fun prizes!
