Sculpture at Illinois State University

Sculpture at Illinois State University The Sculpture Program fosters a spirit of experimentation and strong working methods in both technical skills and critical thinking.

Course work promotes an understanding of the all-inclusive nature of Sculpture at this point in history including discussions of current issues in the arts and its influence on personal development. Students are encouraged to engage issues of space, theoretical inquiry, and the manufacture of objects through technical process as well as thoughtful, critical dialogue. Through assigned projects with

in-class work/discussions culminating in deadlines and final critiques, this critical dialogue unfolds and develops throughout the student's tenure. Instructors: Associate Professors Gary Justis and Claire Lieberman

Exhibition
University Galleries of Illinois State University is pleased to present the MFA Thesis Exhibitions from March 8 through April 4, 2022.

2022 MFA Thesis Exhibitions features eight simultaneous solo exhibitions by Master of Fine Arts students in Illinois Stateโ€™s Wonsook Kim School of Art: Nicci Arnold, Japheth Asiedu-Kwarteng, Aca Carle, Sargylana Cherepanova / sargษฏlaana cerepanษ”ba, Peytin Fitzgerald, Priscilla Kar Yee Lo, Emma Oliver, and Richard Oliver Reed.

The exhibitions are the culmination of the studentsโ€™ research during their three-year program. In addition to writing a thesis and creating their artwork, each student develops their own exhibition plan, installs their work, and writes their accompanying labels. University Galleries is thrilled to partner with the Wonsook Kim School of Art to offer graduating MFA students this opportunity for professional development.
