Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Lauby Teacher Ed Center will be temporarily closed as we repair damage caused by the most recent storms and flooding.

But don’t worry—we’re still here in DeGarmo, just a little more spread out! 💙

Please see the updated locations for our Student Teaching Placement Coordinators so you know where to find us during this time.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through these repairs!

Rounding out our Inspirational K-12 Educator series is Mrs. Suzanne Wolf, who has been nominated by Trinity Tokarz!

Here is what Trinity had to say about Mrs. Wolf:

"Ms. Citron is truly an inspirational individual. She is a teacher who is passionate about what she does and it is evident that she wants future educators to succeed. During and after high school, she provided a safe space for students to ask for advice and meaningful mentorship. Ms. Citron’s work is admirable and she continues to create an impactful learning space for her students."

Today, we are recognizing Mr. Carmine Vozzolo, who has been nominated by Ellis Kent.

Here is what Ellis had to say about Mr. Vozzolo:

"I do not think I would be where I am today without Mr. Vozzolo. He inspired my love for ASL and the Deaf community by not only teaching the language, but the history and culture behind it. As any good history teacher would say, we need to learn from the past and do what we can to change the future. For me, this was becoming a teacher of the d/Deaf (TOD) after learning about the history of d/Deaf education in the U.S. and Europe. When I was accepted into the DHH program at ISU as an early decision, Mr. Vozzolo was the first person I wanted to tell. Many people ask why I chose this profession, assuming I must have a d/Deaf family member or friend, but I always credit Mr. Vozzolo's ASL classes as my first inspiration."

Today, we recognize Mrs. Erin Kasanders, who has been nominated by Annabelle Dunford!

Here is what Annabelle had to say about Mrs. Kasanders:

"Miss Kasanders exemplifies the power of inspiring, joyful teaching. Her classroom was a place where learning came alive through creativity, kindness, and genuine care for her students—qualities that left a lasting imprint on those fortunate enough to be in her care (me!). The memorable moments she created, from funny April Fool's pranks to her warm, loving approach to instruction, didn't just make third grade unforgettable; it shaped the trajectory of my future! I am currently in my full-time student teaching takeover, and April fools was this week. I remember so vividly when Miss Kasanders pranked us by telling us she brought brownies but they were E's cut out of brown construction paper!!! Getting to take my memory and use it on my own students was such a full circle moment! Miss Kasanders represents the very best of what dedicated educators can be—someone who understands that the most meaningful teaching happens when students feel valued, celebrated, and inspired to learn."
