The NJROTC Program at Lake Taylor High School, Norfolk, Virginia, was established in 1972. In 2004, it became the groundwork of the NJROTC Academy of Leadership and Military Science, the magnet specialty program at Lake Taylor High School. Since its establishment, the program has enjoyed 15 selections as a Distinguished Unit (14 consecutive). Additionally, Cadets have been selected as Lake Taylor’s Valedictorian, Salutatorian, or both in 8 out of the last 13 years.

Lake Taylor's ALMS Cadet-Commanding Commanding Officer, Command Master Chief, and Drill Master Chief officially received their Drone Pilot wings from the NJROTC Area FIVE Manager, LCDR (Ret.) James Landis.
Our Cadets joined the elite ranks of NJROTC Cadets in Area FIVE (3 of 4), licensed by the FAA as Part 107 Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) Operators.

Promoting the Chick-fil-A Leader Academy's "One Million Book Giveaway," Cadets visited Lake Taylor School, read and distributed 5 books from the "I am" series to each of the 77 first graders in attendance. The first graders were also educated on the importance of reading and received some snacks.
189 Azalea Gardens Middle School Students visited Lake Taylor High School to gain first-hand knowledge of our NJROTC Leadership Academy. Cadets presented information on the LTHS Drone Program, a static display of various departmental functions, and an overview of eligibility requirements to enter the Leadership Academy at the start of the 2024-2025 SY.
Lake Taylor High School Cadets embarked on the American Rover for some nautical education. This was our third and final visit for the 2023-2024 school year.
