The NJROTC Program at Lake Taylor High School, Norfolk, Virginia, was established in 1972. In 2004, it became the groundwork of the NJROTC Academy of Leadership and Military Science, the magnet specialty program at Lake Taylor High School. Since its establishment, the program has enjoyed 15 selections as a Distinguished Unit (14 consecutive). Additionally, Cadets have been selected as Lake Taylorβs Valedictorian, Salutatorian, or both in 8 out of the last 13 years.

The ALMS Drone Team competed in their final competition of the season and once again represented Lake Taylor High School with excellence!
Our Cadets earned:
π 1st Place β Speed Challenge
π 2nd Place Overall
π 2nd Place β Costume Competition
In addition to competing at a high level, our Cadets also had a great time participating in the costume competition and showcasing their creativity and team spirit.
We are extremely proud of their hard work, dedication, teamwork, and growth throughout the season. Congratulations to our Drone Team for continuing to set the standard both in and out of competition!

The Lake Taylor NJROTC cadets geared up for the Salem meet on the 15, getting into preparations for a series of events. The cadets practiced on their trolley strategy.Cadets also focused on perfecting their baton handoffs for the baton run and participating in push-ups and sit-ups. Job well done cadetsποΈ

The Lake Taylor ALMS NJROTC cadets had the greatest opportunity to visited Lake Taylor school as part of the Chick-fil-A Leadership Academy on the 12th, where they engaged with young students through reading different books. The cadets had a variety of books to share with the students. Once done with reading stories the cadets passed out snacks to the kids. π

Last Tuesday, our cadets had the amazing opportunity to participate in the Norfolk 5 bowling trip. Taking home a second place trophy. π³π

Yesterday, Lake Taylor High School ALMS Cadets had a blast at the Kickoff event for the 2025 Chick-fil-A Leader Academy. Chick-fil-A Leader Academyβ’ is a national high school leadership program focused on "IMPACT THROUGH ACTION." Cadets watched videos about the importance of leadership then broke into groups to discuss potential Impact Projects to undertake during the current season. We had fun playing "Swallow Your Fear." Cadet partnered up and received matching jelly beans that tasted different...we had some interesting flavors. We ended the day, packing books with hand-written inspirational notes for distributing to Elementary School-aged kids. Job well done Cadets!!ποΈ

**Congratulations to the Lake Taylor High School NJROTC Drone Team!**
Our Lake Taylor High School Cadets delivered an outstanding performance at the Maury High School Drone Competition! They earned 3rd place in the Hula Hoops event and took home 1st place in the Costume Competition!
Every Cadet demonstrated hard work, teamwork, and Titan pride throughout the afternoon.
