ADVANCEMENT GIVES BACK!

Our Challenge. Our Impact. President Hemphill has challenged every ODU division to make a difference.

As the Division of Advancement, we build relationships every day. Now, let’s come together to help ODU reach President Hemphill’s goal of 150,000 items through non-perishable food and monetary donations for students and families facing food insecurity.

Every item matters. Every donation counts. Every one of us can make a difference.

Let's make Advancement proud!

ODU Alumni Honors Spotlight: Wendy Larry ’77
Few individuals have shaped the legacy of Old Dominion University Athletics quite like Wendy Larry ’77.

As a former student-athlete, assistant coach, and head coach, Wendy devoted more than three decades to ODU and transformed the Lady Monarchs into one of the nation's premier women's basketball programs. During her legendary tenure as head coach (1987–2011), she recorded more than 600 career victories, led the Lady Monarchs to 20 NCAA Tournament appearances, and guided the team to an NCAA-record 17 consecutive conference tournament championships.

Her remarkable career reached new heights in 1997, when she led the Lady Monarchs to the NCAA National Championship game, earning multiple National Coach of the Year honors.
Beyond the wins, Wendy has been a champion for student-athletes, serving as President of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and continuing her leadership in collegiate athletics as an Associate Commissioner for the Atlantic 10 Conference. Her lasting impact on ODU, women's basketball, and the Hampton Roads community reflects a legacy of excellence, leadership, and service.

We are proud to recognize Wendy Larry ’77 as a 2026 Distinguished Alumna.
