Spartans joined vendors on the Student Center Campus Greens yesterday to take part in resources and interactive displays celebrating Earth Day!

Dr. Bernadette Holmes, professor in the Sociology department, educated passing students, staff, and faculty about the importance of environmental justice with a display on gentrification 🧑‍⚖️ The display showed an exploratory analysis from a study for which she was an advisor.

Also with a display was Dr. Ashley Haines, professor of Biology. Armed with a tank of filter feeders, Dr. Haines explained how creatures such as sponges and mussels are essential for waterways and environments just like around NSU 🦪

Other activities included making t-shirts and tote bags with the Fine Arts department, an adopt-a-plant station, and showcase of electric vehicles with EV charging demonstrations.

🌎 April 22nd marked Earth Day, a global event dedicated to environmental protection, sustainability, and raising awareness about issues like climate change and pollution.
