Juneteenth celebrates the end of slavery in the United states. Although President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863, it was not until June 19, 1865 that all enslaved people were informed of their freedom.
Today we honor the resilience, culture and strength of the Black community.
