Traffic patterns. Hospital staffing. Supply chains. Behind many business and infrastructure decisions is a field called modeling and simulation: a way to test what happens before it happens.

ODU's online master's in modeling and simulation teaches you to build digital models of real systems and turn the results into smarter decisions, with demand across health care, transportation, defense and government. This degree is built to fit a working schedule, with accelerated classes and multiple starting points throughout the year. https://online.odu.edu/resources/what-modeling-and-simulation-plain-language-guide-prospective-graduate-students

Sometimes the best teacher is personal experience. Brendan Coyle was diagnosed with ADHD as a child. Now, he wants to become a board-certified behavior analyst (BCBA) and use his experience to help kids who need support at school.

“I was labeled as a behavioral kid when really I just didn't know how to properly communicate my needs and wasn't quite utilizing all the resources that I could have. So I want to be that person for the next generation.”

Brendan pushed through personal hardship as an ODU student to earn his bachelor’s in leadership. That degree is propelling him into graduate school and, later, BCBA certification.

Pausing his career at PayPal wasn't an option. So Ashish Verma '25 found a master's program that fit around his life instead.

From San Jose, he squeezed classes between work meetings and finished assignments as late as 2 a.m., all while raising a newborn. For his capstone, he helped build deep-learning models to detect anomalies inside a national particle accelerator. The practical experience made a real impact.

Now he's applying advanced AI to fraud detection at PayPal, with a PhD on the horizon.

"It laid down the foundation for me to survive in the current AI era."

What do we mean by “accelerated eight-week courses”?

Kelsey Whitlow from ODUGlobal Advising explains what you need to know in 15 seconds: The semester is broken up into two eight-week terms, and you’re considered a full-time student if you take six credit hours in each term.

Eight-week classes begin this fall for all ODUGlobal undergraduate, master's and certificate courses. You'll have flexible access to balance your schedule with more entry points throughout the year to begin, or begin again. https://online.odu.edu/online-experience/taking-classes-online/8-week-asynchronous/frequently-asked-questions
