I tried to stay away from this, but this is the last straw.

When a Black boy graduates high school and turns 18, what real help does he get? None. No Section 8. No food stamps. No TANF. No real government assistance.

So what happens? He’s forced to bounce from one odd job to the next, trying to survive until eventually he has a kid and moves in with the baby mama. Now you’ve got a 21-year-old with no trade, no plan, and no money to pay for training.

And meanwhile…the young lady is receiving assistance, getting her housing, her benefits, and putting her stuff together. She’s moving forward while he’s stuck at the bottom, being told to “figure it out.”

Meanwhile, I’m a man who didn’t graduate high school, went to Job Corps (which they’ve silently shut down), and my trade saved my life. But every time I try to help these young men—here comes another “requirement.” Another cert. Another insurance policy. More paperwork. More red tape. I think it’s because I’m so young. I can’t put my finger on any other reason this has been so difficult.

Do y’all want these young boys to work or not?
Because if they’re shooting up the streets—it’s a problem.
If they’re trying to go to school and get a high-paying job—they’re being held back.

It doesn’t matter though… because the only thing that can stop me and Johnson Marine is death.
