This is why mentorship matters.

Congratulations to ODU WIN mentee, Ria Kilaro! This is what her mentor, Jerri Dickseski, said:

"She did it!! I had the pleasure, as a member of the ODU Board of Visitors, to hug my WIN mentee, Ria Kilaro, on the dais as she received her MA in Economics. Ria has become part of my family. She is bright, talented and has a great future in front of her. Go Monarchs!!💙💙💙"

Another Speaker Series event success!

This time, our mentors, mentees, and event sponsors had the chance to learn from entrepreneur, philanthropist, and ODU WIN Board member, Dr Angela Reddix. She shared key communication skills that have served her well in business and in life.

Many thanks to Angela for sharing her event space, The Mustard Seed Place, a newly-opened hub for women-owned business and collaboration in Portsmouth.

Each year, one of the most anticipated events for both mentees and mentors is the ODU WIN Etiquette Dinner.

At this dinner, participants learn important dining etiquette, which is essential for making a professional impression. This is particularly crucial when meeting with recruiters or potential employers, as it can lead to internships or job opportunities.

This year, we introduced two special ceremonies: one to recognize outstanding mentors and another to recognize all mentees who completed the program requirements. Mentees who went beyond requirements received ODU WIN cords.

We celebrate our Monarch Award recipients, ODU WIN mentors who inspire our mentees to reach for the stars.

Krista Costa
Mel Goodrich
Charlene Morring

We recognize our Beacon Award winners, ODU WIN mentors who consistently show up and support mentees.

Thao Balsamo
Mia Joe
Nikki Roth
Kathleen Comer Mozzi
Michele Mulich

We honor our Anchor Award winners, ODU WIN mentors who support mentees with their special skills.

Ann Jones
Amber Price
Karey Malyszko

We extend our thanks to Linda Dyer of Finishing Touches for sharing her wisdom and knowledge, and to all the mentors who generously give their time to make a difference in the lives of others.
