šŸŒ COMMUNITY ACTION PLAN: Creative Ways to Support One Another During the Food Stamp Crisis
As our community faces challenges with reduced SNAP benefits, now is the time to come together with compassion, creativity, and unity. Every small act can make a big difference in ensuring no one goes hungry. Here are some powerful ways we can take action together:
🌾 1. Community Food Shares & Pop-Up Pantries
Host neighborhood food distributions or ā€œBlessing Tablesā€ in partnership with churches, schools, and nonprofits. Encourage families to ā€œbring one, take oneā€ and share what they can.
🚐 2. Expand Mobile Market Mondays
Bring fresh produce and healthy food directly to neighborhoods in need. Partner with local farmers, food banks, and grocers to supply affordable or donated items.
🄘 3. Village Dinners or Community Meal Nights
Offer weekly free or low-cost meals at community centers or churches. Involve local chefs, culinary students, or volunteers to serve and educate about healthy, affordable cooking.
šŸ’š 4. Adopt-a-Family or Senior Program
Invite families, civic groups, or businesses to ā€œadoptā€ a household in need—providing groceries, hot meals, or store gift cards on a regular basis.
šŸ“¦ 5. ā€œFill the Gapā€ Drives
Focus food drives on essentials like protein (beans, tuna, peanut butter) and hygiene kits. Keep the effort ongoing, not just seasonal.
🌿 6. Partner with Local Restaurants and Farms
Encourage restaurants to donate surplus meals daily and farmers to set aside a portion of their harvest for community distributionā€”ā€œFarmers with a Mission.ā€
šŸ’¬ 7. Awareness and Advocacy
Use social media, church announcements, and community meetings to share resources, highlight needs, and advocate for stronger food security policies.
šŸ™Œ 8. Volunteer & Skill Exchange Network
Create a ā€œHelping Handsā€ network where residents exchange services—gardening, cooking, or transport—in return for meals or grocery vouchers.
Together, we can be the village that ensures no one is left behind. Let’s lead with faith, compassion, and unity to feed our neighbors and strengthen our community.

My grandson just found out that someone tried to charge $1600 at a retail store three times, I thank God the bank declined the charges. Please go into your debit card and credit card settings and lock your cards now, that way no one can get access to them unless you are present. You will have to unlock your card each time you use it and lock it back, but that is much better than somebody charging your card falsely and you losing your money. It is especially important that you do that for your debit cards because they can wipe your account out and you do not have the same legal protection as you would with a credit card. If you do not know how to lock your credit card or debit card get in contact with your bank immediately and let them show you how to do it.

I was just thinking about some of the students at Chesterfield Heights that iwent to school with: Cynthia Peak, Psyche Mendoza, Ronnie Valentine, Sharon McKinnsey, Barry Cole, Darlene Mason, Tony Davenport, Lillian Bond, Sharon Rhodes, Ayvonne Reese, Maurice Ward, Vanessa Morgan, Bennie Smith, Alvin Ferbee, Bernadette Everette, Rosalyn Jenkins, etc. There are many more, but I cannot recall right now, I'll have to chalk it up to age. Who do you remember from that time?
