Our team studies behavioral risks leading to public health problems.

We follow a behavioral community psychology model, mixing applied behavior analysis with health and community psychology principles. The Behavioral Psychology Research & Analysis Team (or BPRATs) is an active research group in the Department of Psychology at Old Dominion University. Dr. Bryan Porter directs this group, which currently consists of 3 full-time Graduate Research Assistants and about a half-dozen undergraduate and recently-graduated assistants.

Every year since 2009, my team has hit the road throughout Virginia to conduct a federally-required seat belt use field survey. We've been on 136 roadsides each June since then, witnessing the beauty of the Commonwealth, the engagement with the public who stop and say hello, and a myriad of hotels, diners, public parks, trails, etc. that keep us healthy and mentally rested to do the 10+ hour days required for the project. Each year, too, I try to post a picture of the team ... and this year is no different. THANKS to this awesome group of students who make up the BPRATs 2022 crew! They are forever part of our history making the work possible and fun!

הכנס השנתי לבטיחות בדרכים בעידן של תחבורה חכמה 07/06/2021

I'm excited to join this group of excellent scholars this coming Thursday. All of us are committed to increasing road safety, and this group is a world leader (29 years of meetings!) to discuss the latest in this endeavor. The event is free to the public -- another great opportunity for scholars everywhere. Among those I look forward to hearing include: Tova Rosenbloom, Keli Braitman, Abby Lynn, and Jing Chen's research team -- among many others.
