The faculty and staff have been super busy today! First mass with Father Jon Agyekum, followed by a wonderful retreat lead by Sister Dolores, then a delicious Olive Garden lunch.😋 To end the day the teachers greeted their new parents and students during the supply drop off. Everyone is getting super excited for the first day of school. Have a great weekend everyone!

Mr. Jackson grew up in southern Australia and also spent six months living in Canada before making his way to us here in Virginia. 🇦🇺🇨🇦🇺🇸 Having always lived near the sand and surf, we think he’ll feel right at home here in Hampton Roads! 🌊🏖️

Mr. Jackson has a passion for health and fitness, and in his free time, he enjoys playing soccer ⚽, working on cars 🚗, and riding motorcycles. 🏍️

We are so excited for Mr. Jackson to share his faith, experiences, and talents with our Middle School students this year!

🎉 Our next new face joining our littlest Pirates is Ms. Melanie Perez! 🍎📚

Ms. Perez joins us this year as our new Junior Kindergarten Aide, and we are so excited to welcome her to the St. Pius X School family!

One thing you’ll quickly learn about Ms. Perez is that she loves to read—and she says she has a HUGE book collection! 📚❤️ She is always looking for opportunities to learn something new, fun, and interesting, and what better way to discover new things than through a good book?

When she’s not reading, Ms. Perez is a big fan of the Marvel universe and loves discovering new music, songs, and artists to add to her playlists. 🎶🎧

She’s also a huge animal lover! 🐾 Ms. Perez has two dogs and a cat, so we’re pretty sure she has plenty of entertaining stories to share with our Junior Kindergarteners!

Mrs. Torres Maldonado joins us as our new Pre-K 3 Early Learners Aide, and we are so excited to welcome her to our Pirate family!

Born and raised in Puerto Rico 🇵🇷, Mrs. Torres Maldonado brings a love of learning with her to St. Pius X. In fact, she’s a student herself! She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Psychology—an incredible accomplishment! 📚🎓

Outside of the classroom, Mrs. Torres Maldonado loves spending time with her family, reading, listening to music, and shopping. She also loves spending time at the beach, which she says is her favorite place to relax and recharge! 📖🎶🛍️🌊

Ms. Jost joins us as our new Early Learners Teacher, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome her to our Pirate family!

A local girl born and raised in Virginia Beach, Ms. Jost is no stranger to Catholic education. She attended St. Gregory the Great Catholic School and Catholic High School, giving her a deep appreciation for the faith-filled education that shapes our local Catholic school community.

Ms. Jost has always felt called to work with young children and their families, but it was her mom, a preschool teacher, who inspired her to pursue teaching. What a wonderful legacy to continue! ❤️

When she’s not in the classroom, you’ll likely find her staying active by playing soccer with friends ⚽ or relaxing on the beach with a good book. 📖🌊 And there’s even more exciting news—next month she’ll be getting married at Blessed Sacrament! 💍

When she’s not in the classroom, Mrs. Harris enjoys crocheting and recently completed her first big project! 🧶 She also loves spending time with her three fur babies—two cats named Brie Cheese and Socks 🐱🐱 and her dog, Kara. 🐶

Mrs. Harris also enjoys playing volleyball 🏐 and bingo! 🎉 Fun fact: while she was in high school, she served her community as a volunteer firefighter and EMT—what an incredible way to give back!
