Part of the very first graduating class, Michael Hendricks took a chance on something new when he joined CIV in 2008.

What started with chef coats, knife kits, and a passion for culinary arts led to a career overseeing food service operations at Newport News Shipbuilding through Aramark. Today, his work supports thousands of shipbuilders, Navy personnel, and contractors each day, along with large-scale events and military visits.

Michael’s story proves culinary careers can take many paths. And as we celebrate 20 years of CIV, we’re proud to honor alumni like Michael who helped shape the beginning of our story.

Feeding thousands, teaching others, and serving with purpose.

As part of CIV’s 20th anniversary, we’re highlighting alumni who are making an impact in their communities. Christina Ta, Managing Chef at is one of them.
