My fiber art, “Vortices of Light: Spirit Descending into Matter” is being taken out of the ARE archives to be displayed at ARE Congress in June. I created it over 30 years ago, and finally, I had premium archival giclée editions made of it! Sadly, the best professional photo of it was on an unmarked floppy disc…so we took new photos, combining them with the best surviving imagery available after damage to the original artwork. It was a big project, I worked alongside a photographer and a giclee printer…wow his machine is huge as you can see. The whole image was stitched together and carefully restored (in Photoshop—where one can create one’s own reality, LOL! ) These are printed on museum-quality archival fine art paper or archival canvas and the current image preserves the luminosity of the original artwork…the prints are so detailed you can even see the stitching!

My student, Breiten (Dr.B) completed his first charcoal -- he did a great job! (He is also a great chiropractor- Liebell Clinic in VB...he keeps me physically healthy and I help keep him creatively healthy, win-win!)

I went to the opening of the “Feminine Spirit” exhibition at the Virginia Beach Art Center - home of The Artists Gallery last night! Here I am with my art quilt, “Goddesses Rising” wearing my “Medusa Rising” ensemble— because if you can’t wear a Medusa garment to a Feminine Spirit exhibition, where can you wear it, LOL??? The Goddess of Watercolor, Vonnie Whitworth knocked it out of the park (as usual) with her two watercolors, “Draped Figure” and “Antique Lace Dress”, above. And the fascinating assemblage, “Siri” by Christine Pianin, won an Honorable Mention. Thru May 30 at VBAC 532A Virginia Beach Blvd, 23451.
