In December 1922, an interest group of ten women chartered the Iota Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® at the Historic First Baptist Church, Bute Street. Currently, the chapter serves the city of Norfolk, VA and is the first of two graduate chapters that service the city.
