Pastor David McBride from New Life Church in Ghent gave an inspirational message today on the importance of Thanksgiving. He challenged us to be thankful for the season of our lives we are in, instead of comparing ourselves to others. Ultimately, we give thanks to God because He has shown us His mercy and has loved us with an everlasting love!

Last week, we celebrated the installation of our new chapter of the National English Honor Society, which we’ve named the *Ambassadors of Literature*. We proudly inducted eleven new members, including our chapter officers, marking the start of a vibrant and engaged group! The mission of the National English Honor Society is to promote mastery of written expression, encourage meaningful reading, and foster a sense of community among students who excel in English studies. To become a member, candidates must maintain a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale)

The 4th and 5th grade Chapel Leadership team wrote skits demonstrating how students can approach various situations humbly. They did a fantastic job connecting humility with interactions children experience daily!

Ninth grader Jana Young shared a personal testimony of God‘s faithfulness throughout her journey with diabetes, pointing toward a lifestyle of trusting that God has a plan for each person’s life. Then Mrs. Bonnie Sanford, our sixth and seventh grade Bible teacher, gave a great message about love not being prideful. She used different balloons to demonstrate how God made us all to be different but we are each created for a specific purpose, each of us with the same mission to use our gifts to glorify God.

Our Forensics class has been hard at work! Last week, students tackled a real-world project: processing a burglary crime scene. They documented, collected, and analyzed evidence. We’re grateful to have a wonderful Forensics teacher —an Air Force Security Forces Veteran and former Police Officer—helping guide our students through this hands-on experience. We’re lucky to have such expert knowledge in the classroom at NCS!

“I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

-Philippians 1: 3-6

Honoring our heroes! 🇺🇸 All of our campuses gathered to celebrate veterans and military families this week and thank them for all they do for us. CAPT Lee Duckworth, USN (retired), RADM Jack Moreau, USN (retired), and CAPT Chris Purcell (remote from the USS Wasp) spoke at our Upper School, while CAPT David Ayotte, USN spoke at our Norfolk Lower School and 4 active duty dads joined to talk to our Beach Campus. Each speaker highlighted the sacrifice required of those in the military and their families, and reminded us that we are living out our calling to love others when we care for them in our community. It was such an honor to be joined by veteran and active duty staff, parents, and family members, as we celebrated all who defend our freedom on this special day.

In today’s chapel, Ms. Sandwell gave a brief message on love and unity in Christ, a recap of 1 Corinthians 13 and our theme of “Love because He loves”. This was followed by a student-led message from 11th grader Grace Rex, who gave a poignant illustration of her family‘s experience of climbing a mountain as a metaphor for our walk with Christ, encouraging us to keep pressing on toward Him, even when the path seems difficult. Ninth grader Elijah Perry shared a message of the unending, unfailing love of God for each person, with an emphasis on the parable of the lost sheep. What a joy to hear our students boldly proclaiming the word of God!
