This morning, our kiddos got to explore a pumpkin up close! We carved one together so everyone could see what the inside of a pumpkin looks like and, of course, get their hands in there to see what it feels like! 😆🧡

Some loved the squishy, slimy insides… and some weren’t quite so sure! 😂 But everyone had fun learning, exploring, and experiencing something new.

And we couldn’t finish our pumpkin fun without everyone getting a cute picture with our freshly carved pumpkin! 🎃📸

We love turning simple seasonal activities into hands-on learning experiences for our littles! 🍂🧡

❤️ At Itty Bitty, caring for children goes far beyond the hours we’re open.

One thing we take incredibly seriously is the health and safety of every little one who walks through our doors.

We currently have more infants in our care than toddlers, which means many of the children we care for are very young with little immune systems still developing. But whether they’re 6 weeks old or 4 years old, every child’s health and safety matters equally to us.

Tonight, our staff spent 2 hours after closing sanitizing EVERYTHING in our center. Toys, surfaces, equipment, play areas — everything our little hands touch. 🧼🫧

Could we have gone home when the last child left? Absolutely. Instead, we stayed. We gave up time with our own families because the families who trust Itty Bitty with their children deserve to know that we will always do our part.

We know there is no way to completely prevent sickness in childcare. Germs are going to happen when little ones spend their days together. But we can control how seriously we take it, how we respond, and the effort we put into keeping our center clean and our children healthy.

That’s what Itty Bitty is about.❤️

It’s not just providing childcare from 6:00–5:00. It’s caring about these children when the doors are open AND after they close.

When families choose Itty Bitty, they’re trusting us with the most important people in their lives — and that is something we will never take lightly. 🫶🏼

Their health. Their safety. Their home away from home.

Saturday I spend the day building a vision Ive been wanting for the daycare for awhile. I first thought of it before opening the center when I was getting it ready but it never came about. Until now! I finally have my reading tree and Im obsessed with it. The leaves can be removed easily to change seasons and I can decorate the tree with every holiday. Huge thank you to Jill Wolf for coming to Norfolk for the day and helping me making this come alive! The kids thought it was soo cool today. Nice little touch to our reading corner.

We turned our water tables into giant corn sensory bins, and I think it’s safe to say they’re a HIT! 😂💛 Scooping, pouring, digging, filling, dumping… and apparently seeing just how much corn we can get on the floor. 🤪

Ms. Kaitlyn is learning to embrace the mess because sometimes the messiest play makes for the BEST memories and learning! 🥰

Happy kids + corn everywhere = a successful morning at Itty Bitty! 🌽💛

Today we did something Ms. Kaitlyn has NEVER done in all her years of childcare… we had a MUD DAY! 😂

If you know Ms. Kaitlyn, you know she usually avoids taking the kids outside when it’s wet because she doesn’t want everyone going home covered in mud. Well… today we threw that rule right out the window! 🤣

And OH. MY. GOODNESS. did these kiddos have the BEST time! They splashed in puddles, made mud pies, cooked in the mud kitchen, dug with their hands, and even turned the slide into a muddy slip-n-slide! 🤎

There were muddy clothes, muddy shoes, muddy hands, muddy faces… mud EVERYWHERE. 😂 And judging by all the smiles and giggles, I think we can officially say Mud Day was a SUCCESS!

Sometimes the best childhood memories are the messiest ones. 🥹🤎

I have a feeling this might have to become an Itty Bitty Daycare tradition! 💦🤎🌧️

Another fun activity today was bubble wrap painting! We added blobs of colorful paint, covered them with bubble wrap, and let the kids use little hammers to smash, squish, and spread the colors around!

They had so much fun watching the paint move and mix underneath the bubbles — and of course, getting to use a hammer made it even better! 😂

A simple activity that worked on fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, color exploration, and cause & effect while letting out a little energy too! ❤️💙💛🧡

Today’s sensory activity was Jell-O! ❤️💚 The kiddos had so much fun squishing, scooping, rolling, and exploring all the different textures. It was definitely a little messy—but that’s half the fun! 😆

And parents… if your child comes home with colorful/stained hands today, now you know why! 😂🙌

We brought out our sensory “dirt” again this morning, but this time we made it even more fun by adding gummy worms! 🪱

The kiddos had so much fun digging, squishing, scooping, and searching for their little wormy surprises. Even some of our really little friends got in on the messy fun! 🥰

Our little ones may be too young to understand what September 11th means or why this day holds such a special place in our hearts, but we still wanted to take a moment to recognize it in a way they could participate in.

Today, the kids used their little hands to create their own American flags. 🇺🇸🖐️

Someday they’ll learn about the events of September 11, 2001, the lives that were lost, the heroes who stepped forward, and the way our country came together. For now, we can begin by teaching them about kindness, helping others, and loving the country they call home. ❤️

25 years later, we remember. We honor. We will never forget. 🇺🇸

As we approach the 1-year anniversary of opening Itty Bitty Daycare Center next month, I’ve been thinking a lot about how far this little dream has come. ❤️

Seven years ago, after having my second child, I started my in-home daycare simply so I could stay home with my kids while making a little extra income. I never imagined that 7 years later, it would grow into what Itty Bitty Daycare is today. 🥹

This past year has taught me SO much. There have been challenges, lots of learning, exciting changes, and so many moments that have reminded me why I love what I do. Caring for children has truly become my passion, and I’m so thankful I get to continue doing what I love every day.

None of this would be possible without the amazing families who have trusted me with their little ones, my friends and family who have supported me along the way, and everyone who has cheered Itty Bitty Daycare on from the very beginning. Your trust and support mean more to me than I can put into words. ❤️

And because we have something BIG to celebrate… it’s GIVEAWAY time again!🎁🎉
