Ghent School PTA

Congratulations to our Kindergarten, 5th, and 8th graders on their promotions! The PTA was able to help celebrate the students and families this week with refreshments and a photo backdrop in the gym. We also brought back the infamous GhentBucks Coffee for our amazing staff. Congratulations to our shining suns! 🌞🌞🌞

Behind every surprise, treat and cup of coffee during Teacher Appreciation Week at Ghent School was months of planning, teamwork, and generosity from our amazing community.

Thanks to an INCREDIBLE Color Run fundraiser in early March, the Ghent School PTA dedicated a $2,500 budget to celebrate 84 incredible staff members through special meals, gifts, decorations, activities and games throughout Teacher Appreciation Week.

Our Teacher Appreciation Committee had help from 4 additional amazing volunteers. They were also supported by 8 generous local businesses who helped us stretch our allocated funds far beyond their value. Ghent PTA was able to give away $450 in gift cards to staff throughout the week and deliver 250 heartfelt letters of appreciation from students.

After 2 months of planning, the result was truly priceless — countless smiles and a week full of gratitude for the educators who make Ghent School so special.

The PTA would like to thank our Teacher Appreciation Committee for their efforts and specially shout them out by name because they deserve so much praise and recognition for pulling off such an amazing week. So let’s give a big round of applause to Catherine Horn, Paige Rosekopf, and Katie St. John!

Teacher Appreciation Week was truly so gratifying and so much FUN for everyone involved! We’re sad to see it end. Want to get involved for next year? Come to our last PTA meeting of this school year on May 20!

Throughout Teacher Appreciation Week, our amazing Ghent School staff put their puzzle-solving skills to the test with a school-wide riddle game! Each morning brought a new riddle to solve for a daily gift card prize, and participants had to keep track of their answers all week long. 👀

At the end of the week, the clues came together for one final challenge: unscrambling letters from daily riddle answers to reveal the code needed to unlock a hidden cryptex tucked away in the library.

The race was on Friday morning as teachers searched for the cryptex — and the first person to enter the correct code walked away with a $100 prize! Congratulations to our big winner, Mr. Main!

Thank you to everyone who joined in the fun and helped make Teacher Appreciation Week so memorable. We loved celebrating our incredible Ghent School staff all week long! ❤️

Day 4 Recap!
As we start winding down appreciation week, we’re sad to see it go! We have had so much fun this week showing our staff and teachers just how much they mean to us! Lunch today was a huge hit and we loved seeing everyone’s happy faces! We provided sandwiches, chips, cookies, and drinks to our wonderful staff.
Congrats to Mrs. Cohen, our riddle winner from last night.
We’re excited to see who wins big tomorrow on the hunt for the $100 gift card! 🤩

Day 3 of Teacher Appreciation coming through to cure those Hump Day Blues! We treated the staff today to more GhentBucks Coffee from our PTA Baristas! They were able to choose from a variety of lattes and matcha.
A big thank you to Elliot's Fair Grounds for donating a variety of syrups to make the coffees extra special.

The staff also had a variety of desserts to choose from, including cookies donated byThe Fresh Market Ghent and a special Gluten Free cake donated from Nothing Bundt Cakes Ghent.

Day 2 of Appreciation Week Coming in Hot 🔥

Ghent PTA had so much fun stocking the teachers’ lounge this morning with treats, snacks, cold drinks and even a variety of ice creams to help our amazing Ghent School staff feel celebrated all week long!

Congratulations to our riddle gift card winners from yesterday, Mr. Grieve and Ms. Waters. Teachers, don’t forget to keep track of your riddle answers each day to crack the code and win big on Friday! Stay tuned for more ways we’re showing our love and appreciation this week ❤️🫶

We kicked off teacher and staff appreciation week with a bang!
Staff received a goodie bag filled with fun things when they arrived this morning. Next our coffee cart made its way around to all classrooms and offices serving coffee, tea, bagels and donuts!
Special thanks to Starbucks at Ghent for donating all the coffee!

Thanks to the amazing parents and students at Ghent making the color run a success, the PTA was able to give our fearless leaders each $100 gift cards to their favorite places! Special thanks to Raising Cane’s at Ghent and Trader Joe’s in Va Beach for donating large gift baskets full of goodies! We love you Dr. Banks and Mr Tooley!
