PASTA WITH A PURPOSE – UPDATE

St. John is currently in 2nd place! But we do have stiff competition and we NEED YOUR HELP! The 3 congregations collecting the most pounds per worshipping adult will receive a $250 grant to be given to the feeding ministry of their choice.

Please bring your pasta/pasta related items to St. John and place in our donation bin. Neighbors, Friends, ALL - you are invited to help us help our community. If you can’t make it to St. John but would like to help us win, just send us a check and say “BUY PASTA” and we’ll do the shopping for you!

We are down to the last month with the final weigh-in on “God’s Work Our Hands” day, September 6th.

St. John will be hosting a YARD SALE on Saturday, July 18th from 9 am to 4 pm. Stop by to help support our church and maybe you’ll find a treasure to take home!

A Summer Food Drive
June 1 - September 6

During the summer months, children often miss out on nutritious meals when school cafeterias are closed. Our local food pantries often face higher demand while donations slow down. Pasta with a Purpose is our congregation’s joyful response—an easy, meaningful way to support our neighbors in need.

Please bring pasta-related food items to church anytime this summer. We will weigh our collection before delivering it to Advent's Food Pantry and share our total contribution (in pounds) so that we can see how our small gifts, along with those of other ELCA churches across Virginia, add up to something powerful. The Virginia Synod will celebrate the three congregations with the highest donation rate (pounds donated per average worship attender) with a $250 grant to a food pantry of the congregation’s choice!

Pasta related food items - dry pasta (spaghetti, penne, rotini) ~ cans of pasta sauce (with or without meat) ~ boxes of macaroni and cheese ~ canned pasta meals (ravioli or spaghetti)

This is part of our continued effort to support the Food Pantry of The Episcopal Church of the Advent, who helps a large portion of our Ocean View Community.

Join us for our Ash Wednesday Service on February 18, 2026 at 12 Noon, as we begin our journey into Lent!
