THIS IS IT! This Sunday is the last day to donate and help us with our PASTA WITH A PURPOSE food drive. We have been in 2nd place but are hoping to make our way to 1st. To do that, we need your help! Please bring in your pasta (and pasta related items) this Sunday and show everyone what we can do!!!

Hunger remains a significant concern across the Commonwealth. About 1 in 9 Virginias experiences food insecurity, meaning they do not always have reliable access to enough food for an active, healthy life. More than 252,000 children in Virginia face food insecurity. Rising food costs have made the challenge even greater for many households.

So PLEASE help us help our neighbors in the Ocean View community!

Recently, the congregation of St. John had the privilege to witness as Laney Grace Griffith was welcomed into the Kingdom of God through Holy Baptism by her grandfather, Rev. Harry Griffith. Following the baptism, a reception was held to celebrate this new life in Christ.

A Summer Food Drive
June 1 - September 6

During the summer months, children often miss out on nutritious meals when school cafeterias are closed. Our local food pantries often face higher demand while donations slow down. Pasta with a Purpose is our congregation’s joyful response—an easy, meaningful way to support our neighbors in need.

Please bring pasta-related food items to church anytime this summer. We will weigh our collection before delivering it to Advent's Food Pantry and share our total contribution (in pounds) so that we can see how our small gifts, along with those of other ELCA churches across Virginia, add up to something powerful. The Virginia Synod will celebrate the three congregations with the highest donation rate (pounds donated per average worship attender) with a $250 grant to a food pantry of the congregation’s choice!

Pasta related food items - dry pasta (spaghetti, penne, rotini) ~ cans of pasta sauce (with or without meat) ~ boxes of macaroni and cheese ~ canned pasta meals (ravioli or spaghetti)

This is part of our continued effort to support the Food Pantry of The Episcopal Church of the Advent, who helps a large portion of our Ocean View Community.
